:wha: The WORST thing a report can do is betray the public trust and report something incorrectly as fact.

I obviously agree that it is bad for a reporter to report falsehoods without correction, but so far the only real blunder I see is the timing of the arrest warrant. Not the end of the world in the scope of media blunders.

Do you even understand the role of a reporter? These are supposed to be the people that report truth not tabloids?

Oh, come on. I'm trying to have a reasonable conversation here. (And of course one could argue what the actual role of a reporter is nowadays.)

Do you understand that you are being lied to over and over and over again and you are fine with that?

I've been taking the media with a grain of salt for most of my adult life, thank you very much.

Lets put this in perceptive. These media outlets are doing what Tomase did with a murder investigation. Let that sink in for a moment.

Let's not overstate things here. The worst thing they've done is get the timing of the warrant wrong and that's really note the end of the world. The warrant could very well exist and still go away depending on AHern's ongoing cooperation.

Overreacting to the media is kind of a waste of time, IMHO.

Well, lots of folks are reaching in both directions, but the people using media inconsistency as evidence of anything are probably making the worst or silliest arguments.



That's not a very interesting conclusion. Not trying to get into a pissing match but this is one of those "no **** sherlock" statements. I still haven't heard anything convincing that disproves most of the things that the media has reported. (Note: I'm not anti-Hernandez based on the information and I hope it turns out that he's a great guy who didn't really do anything wrong, but I'm squarely in the "walks like a duck" camp.)

Interesting? This isn't for your entertainment. This is someone's livelihood that we are discussing. I think it deserves a little more respect than to be judged upon based on questionable evidence from unethical hacks. Check back on my posting history in this thread and you will see that I was right there with everyone else writing this guy off based on the "reporting" done by these nitwits. No thanks. I am not buying it any longer. I'll wait until the DA has something to actually say about it.

No, they are not. Most people questioning the inconsistency of this case have a right to do so mainly because the performance of the media has been diabolical.

Sure they have a right to question, but again, it's not like it's been established that AHern's associate wasn't killed near his house, that AHern hadn't been seen recently with the guy, that AHern's security system wasn't dismantled, that his phone wasn't dismantled, or that the rental car wasn't Hernandez's, or that the guy is not dead.

Look, I dislike the media a fair amount, but as of Friday evening most of the facts reported about the case have not been significantly refuted. Granted, there's a lot that hasn't been said and a little bit of a circus atmosphere.

I'll wait until the DA has something to actually say about it.

This is pretty much the most reasonable position one can take on the subject given what we know, in my opinion.

If he is cooperating behind the scenes the warrant won't be necessary. As I said earlier in a post ... the police know the history of the deceased and the 2 men with Hernandez. The recent history of those 3 and whom they met up with that night are the key.

I think someone or some people were waiting for Oldin. I think he pulled into that area to hide ... they followed him ... I think he ran and somehow lost his gun ... they killed him.

just a guess ... also I think Hernandez may know something of value to the police but wants to steer clear of it all. man was killed execution style - Hernandez has enough money he could have had people do that way away from his house if he so desired ... but why would he kill a friend or have him killed? I do not think Hernandez has anything to do with it.

Thats a big reversal from earlier today. I think there are still a lot of details to come.

Was he at your house that night? yes youcan see it right here on my survelence vid,. Can i see your phone? yes of course...you might be interested in a msg there, whre i ask him if the dealer arrived yet, and he answered no, i then called him but no answer. didnt that worry you? well not really...he does it all the time. Why did you have cleaning crew come on monday morn? we always have them on Mondays. Okj Mr Hernandez thats all... I can see you are innocent. Now my stomach is really turning - the family is asking for people to come forward to help solve their relative's murder. A very reasonable request - but for one thing: since when in Dorchester is it cool to be a snitch?

And this is on all 'inner city' races - white, blacks, hispanics, asians, Cape Verde and on and on. Cripes they made a hero out of Carmelo Anthony when he appeared in a don't be a snitch music video. Murder after murder goes unsolved, why should this one be any different? Probably because they know AHern won't be prowling the streets day after day waiting for the chance to strike down his accuser. And there are all those dollar signs to be dealt with...

Now AHern, obviously still plugged into the inner city rough side of life, is turned out. Fantastic.

Somebody is needlessly dead, someone is needlessly going to prison, a family mourns, millions of fans anxiously hope for the best. And now of all things it's good to a snitch. I hope this appeal if nothing else might lead to other folks coming forward to help solve violent crimes. The poor and unknown deserve the same as all of us.

Or does anyone think if he cooperated the press wouldnt be writing the same stuff, and worse. The lack of a named sources is kind of moot considering the fact that the one of the worst things a reporter can do is to out his or her source.

This is true. It's why the reporter must be credible in the first place. When a reporter says that he/she has unnamed sources, you're being asked to trust that that reporter has done enough due diligence that what they're telling you is fact, and you have to trust them.

There are a few reporters who have proven credible enough that I will extend that trust to them. There are many more reporters who simply don't deserve that trust. They don't do the due diligence required to know that what they're reporting as fact is actually fact. That includes most of the reporters who have been breaking news on this case.

No, they haven't. This is, again, another example of the media blowing out of proportion what was told to Hernandez and then posters blowing it out of proportion even more.

You're partly right......particularly when it comes to the court of law......

but when it comes to the court of goodell, it only matters how it looked

Vick got suspended the moment he was indicted..........Roethlisberger got suspended without even being charged......

depending on how the obstruction works out will dictate what happens......along with what the 2 other guys may say.......he will need ot be completely cleared to not incur the wrath of goodell......and even then, he will probably get cornholed for association.

and who really cares.......AH deserves whatever he gets for being involved in something like this while making the money he is making and while having a 1 year old kid........gotta be in the running for the stupidest human of the year......and yes, goodell can penalize you for being stupid
