Brady isn't even a part of the MVP discussion at this point.

NFL - The year's best and worst QBs - ESPN

As we've been saying, scoring TDs should be weighted more in these considerations. Patriots score a lot of TDs. Bottom line.

How is this news? He has always been the best and will be #1 ever to play the game once he wins his 4th SB this season.

Makes sense.

Brady is right behind Manning for QBR; because it's not adjusted for competition. But Brady is #1 for DVOA and DYAR, though, because that *is* defense-adjusted. Manning is right behind him at #2, as well. Oh, and when you remove the adjustment for D? Manning is #1. Brady #2.

So, yeah. If the stat adjusts for D, Brady wins it.

BTW: Brady was #1 in DVOA at Football Outsiders this year.

And in 2010.

And in 2007.

And even in 2009.

Media Logic:
Brady is the best QB.
AP is the most valued by his own teammates.

.
Give the MVP to Manning. :bricks:

DVOA does value sustaining drives over explosive plays which plays into Brady's strengths. If the offense is on the 50 yard line, Manning would be more likely to score on the next play than Brady, but Brady would be more likely to eventually score on that drive.

Unfortunately, the link goes to an "In" story at ESPN that you have to pay for. Was there anything in the article worth noting without violating Ian's "rules of article posting"?

I disagree with Manning being more likely to score from the 50 in one play.

Manning has 2 50+ TD passes, one of which was a 3 yard pass the Thomas took 71.
Brady has 3 50+ TD passes, plus a 46 yarder.

Sorry, you lost me at QBR.

Unlike the NFL passer rating, ESPN has not yet been forthcoming on the exact specific formulas and procedures to calculate QBR.

From the Wikipedia on QBR.
