The “Patriot of the Week” and Brady being called “Sir” was a nice touch. Bet they could not believe Wickersham actually went with that stuff. Someone just scored the prank of the decade.

Patriot of the week exists. That's one of only a couple of points where Wickersham was actually, or at least still arguably, correct. Trey Flowers said he thought Brady won the award at least once this year.

For the record, Flowers also said it was possible that some rookies (he was referring to those from the south) might have used "sir" out of politeness to Brady being an older man newly met. That's not a surprise to me, as calling newly met men "sir" and newly met women "ma'am" is something I do.

Programming note:

Those of you who missed the BB interview can listen to a re-airing on WEEI, at around 5:40 pm.

Holley and Dale are analyzing Seth like I was hoping from day 1. Some good stuff finally from WEEI . BTW I forgot that Matt Cassel made the 2010 Probowl and had some good years.

Cassell had a very good 2010. Weis was OC @ KC.

BB said I wouldn't know Seth if he was sitting in that chair

But if it was....would it be something out of the movie, Saw?

Brady complaining about not being PotW and insisting on being called Sir however does not seem credible.

....or those who had a parent or they themselves were in the military.

No. Hasselbeck is the one who said it and I have no reason to doubt every qb has a “body guy”. Well except cutler.
Of course they do. That isn't what I said. What I said is, the others aren't all guys going around fraudulently claiming to be doctors or selling quack cure-alls for cancer and AIDs. That's a fact.

Thats the aspect of the article that really bothers me. Maybe Tom does complain about some things (receivers running the wrong routes, etc or when Gisele won't have sex 2 times a day) but to squawk about that? Its an insult to Tom and what he is all about.

No, it doesn't. But the existence of the award has been established by a player, on the record, and the saying of sir out of general politeness is certainly credible to me, since it's something I, myself, do.

The existence of the patriot of the week was the tip of the Wickersham iceberg of shame, trying to sell us on tom Brady, 5 time SB champ, 4 time SB mvp, man they just committed to well into his 40s, complaint to someone that he is angry because after all the game changing throws he made he hasn’t been named patriot if the week.

The sir thing is consistent with this type of reporting. Find somewhat of a fact then misapply it to create an impression of a dynamic that doesn’t exist.

Maybe he said it jokingly. That's the only thing I can think of.

He just acknowledged it. While still claiming he hadn't read the article, he stated that he was informed, and his response was BASED ON PASSAGES, so he did read it/have it read to him, at least partly. And that had to have happened for him to be able to put out a statement that wasn't fraudulent.

In other words, and as I'd posted.... shady.

Which, by the way, I have no problem with.

Also, look to the local media twitter feeds for some interesting statements on the general subject, from BB, as he's being relatively loquacious about it in this interview.

And the poster known as former fan continues to clown himself. This is like a BOGO sale.

BB has claimed two things:

1. He didn't read the article
2. He was informed about what's in the article

No matter how hard you spin, those statements are not contradictory and outside of BB changing his stance you'll never be able to prove he lied. I don't why you would want to since getting briefed or hearing about what's in the article without actually reading it is completely plausible.

Who? Tom complaining about not winning PoTW? That was out of the article. I did not take that in jest. The intent was to make Tom look petty

I would call him Sir and I am his elder by 19 years

No, maybe Tom was "complaining" about it in a joking manner.

And i said none of that has anything to do with this. So now we have done the entire 360 degrees.

He can't know the details article if the article is not read. No matter how you try to spin that, the truth is always going to remain the same. Your argument now is that someone else reading him the article passages doesn't count. How the hell you think that's a strong argument is something you'll have to reconcile with yourself, but it tells me that this line of discussion is over. BB was being shady. It's not the first time. It won't be the last. You can carry his water blindly, or you can accept that BB sometimes doesn't tell the whole truth. I don't care what you choose to do.

This is the greatest quote. Not only does Bill rip Wickersham's story to shreds but it kind of shuts down the "Guerrero-Gate" nonsense. He went out of his way to mention "oh, by the way, because you guys won't stop asking me - I'm fine with him." He even used his first name, showing they are at least somewhat cordial with one another.

There was an excellent article on ESPN Boston yesterday that had a flat out great statement by Brady on this whole farce.
I always post on my phone, haven't figured out how to post a link from it.
I'll sum up very briefly the gist of what he said.
" The Patriots have been so good, for so long, that some media thinks it's boring to just publish stories about our actual football play on the field,or coaching,or x's and o's, so the feel like they have to get creative to write stories"
His exact words were much better than mine, but he was basically calling wickersham a liar, lol, but because he's classy, says so in a nice way. But I laughed out loud when I first read it, because that's absolutely what he was doing. He slammed wickersham and ESPN as hard as BB did,in his own way. I loved it.
