ESPN Forsberg says Yea & Reiss says Nay on Ochocinco as a Patriot

i don't need to read jetfan1 posts. i know what he's going to write before he does.

It could be worse. Jermaine Wiggins today said that after spending the entire offseason and OTAs studying the playbook, Ochocinco should know the playbook backwards and forward by now. Do anyone know if Wiggins had a history of concussions during his career? I swear he is the dumbest person in the media. He is the same guy who said that Belichick has never run a 4-3 base during his coaching career even though Beichick ran a 4-3 base while Wiggins was a Patriot and practicing against the defense.

Last Friday, Chris Gasper said that when judging Ochocinco, we should use Jabar Gaffney as the measuring stick because he was a player who came here in 2006 and "immediately clicked with Brady" and grasped the offense. Funny, I don't think getting 10 catches for 142 yards and a TD in 10 games in the 2006 seson is classified as clicking. I remember Gaffney as a bubble player in 2007 and many people feeling that Caldwell had a better chance of making the 53 man roster.

Yes, Mike Reiss is not a good analyst, but he is far better than some of the guys we got here to listen to. Besides, it seemed like Reiss was taking the opposing point to give two different views and not necessarily because he believed that view point.

I'm away from home (library PC) and listened to that 98.5 travesty yesterday. Wiggs is an idiot. Said that missing early access to playbook and OTAs meant nothing. Yet in the next sentence said how different the mental aspects of the Pats offense was vs Cincy's.

Their thethis was that Moss should be signed. A caller disagreed saying which WR would you cut? Wiggs dodged the question saying the guy could be put on IR and not cut. WTF?

They extolled Moss' 2007 season yet ignored 2010 including abyssmal performances with 2 other teams. Speaking of their worry vs Miami, just how many catches did Pats Moss have vs Miami last year? The 98.5 idiots say that Brady and BB want Moss back but someow the OC is preventing it.

I re-learned why when I have internet access I totally blow off sports talk radio. Cretins.

I have to say that Reiss's "nay" really came off as a halfhearted attempt. It's like the Editor said "Okay, we gotta do the BS yea/nay article, so Forsberg you're yea, Reiss your nay...... turn it in in the morning".

He just doesn't come off like he believes a word of what he's saying.

Usually yea's and nay's are polar opposites... like Ocho's gonna be great and Ocho's gonna suck balls............ Riess's nay comes off more like.... we should "temper" our expectations with him. I would have expected a nay to read more like "he's gonna go all Gallaway on us" and be gone by mid-season. What kinda point, counter point end with is "This is very much a work in progress."

Reiss did not stick to the prescribed script on this one. I agree with the previous posters. He should stick to reporting and leave the other stuff for mouthbreathers and knuckle-draggers like Borges.

What made the Wiggins thing unbearable to me is that just last week he was defending Johnson. It came off as if someone told him to change his position, and it was not good radio.

Maybe that is what he said. I could have sworn he said that he thought Ochocinco had an offseason and OTA, but he barely speaks in sentences so I guess that is where I could be wrong. This is a guy who thinks the only 1 gap defense is the Tampa 2 and doesn't realize he practiced against a 4-3 defense in New England. If you listen to him breaking down defenses, you know why Belichick chose not to retain him after the 2001 season even after a good playoff run.

I know people who love Wiggy Wednesdays, but I find it unbearable. You would think Wiggins has never watched a football game in his life if you didn't know he played 8 years in the league.

So their theory is that the power/opinion of Bill O'Brien > the combined team power/opinions of Belichick and Brady together? Are they serious?!

We all know that if Belichick AND Brady wanted Moss back that badly, he'd have already been here. I found it strange that Tom said today "Unfortunately, I do not make personnel moves." That seemed a bit weird to me. I guess it never hurts to grease Randy's wheels in case of a major injury. As far as bringing back a vet who knows the offense, it could be done with more ease than anyone else. As we've all said all off-season, the problem is that we don't know which Moss we'd be getting. I do believe that he would put forth more effort and have a better attitude than last yr when he was in contract misery, so worse moves could be made. However, I don't see any reason whatsoever to even consider it unless someone major on the WR core went down early for a substantial amt of time.

Why does Reiss compare Ocho to Galloway? Galloway's forte was running as fast as he could down the field. The Pats got him when he was 82 years old and no longer fast. Ocho's forte is his great route running. With all the targets, Ocho may not put of the numbers, but the comparison lacks greatly, IMHO.

Good stuff, I think Reiss has it right and his analysis is actually analysis while the other guy is indulging in wishful thinking. Ah sweet reality.
