are we really going there on the shoulders of one game, most of which was garbage time?

yeah .. let's better concentrate on the fact that it was only one game (his first) .. call 3 quarters of the game garbage time to underline the great point .. and completely ignore what the guy showed on the field where every snap is a battle for the job ..

The fact is Roberts came on the field in the beginning of 2nd quarter .. after first (long) Browns drive that went for a touchdown and second (just two plays) that ended in safety.

The other fact is that the rookie most experts had on the outside of the roster played great (best defensive player by PFF) and made a lot of great plays (well documented in this thread).

One can always also choose to enjoy witnessing something like this ..

It was good to see.......beyond that, big deal....it was the browns

BTW, garbage time started around the beginning of the 2nd quarter

The first half, I was like "Jamie Collins, you rock man. Great stuff..." and then..."what?!?! Roberts? Holy crap dude!?!?!" Wasn't paying attention to the number.

By the way, anyone seen Jamie Collins? I wonder if he had a specific role?

Players don't get to decide who they play against. Regardless, this was the first time all season Roberts got to see meaningful snaps on the field, and he definitely rose to the occasion -- leading the team in tackles for the entire game (and helping to stop the NFL's #1 rushing attack through Week 5)

not sure of the point.......he looked ok in what was nothing more than mop up time which happened to be nearly 3 quarters long

Jonas Gray looked great for a game against the colts......let's see what happens against a team that's in the game with a decent QB.......

Well he's definitely earned another shot at playing

He definitely caught the attention of everyone watching with me. We were like: "who is #52?" That man made some plays.

I guess I understand why we cut Kamu Grugier-Hill now. Roberts is bigger and seems to play as fast. That said, it was one game. He's got a long way to go but I'm excited at the prospect of a speedy LB in this era of football.

I guess you can't really tell anything at all, since he was going up against (and beating) scrubs like Joe Thomas, who's just a Brown, right?

LOL........yeah, that's who he was dealing with.......what a ******ed response

They flipped Hightower and Collins from last week, because they wanted the better run defender (Hightower) shutting that down.

They also had Chung way down in the box.

Basically, it was a game where they dared the Browns to throw the ball, and Collins was of minimal impact.

He sure caught my eye. Felt foolish saying he was an obvious cut for Ninkovich's return. He shows why Bill treasures an even allocation of draft picks.

Roberts should never have been considered a candidate for release upon Ninko's return.

Brandon King & Gregg Scrubbs, on the other hand...

IC, There are a half-dozen plays (shown elsewhere) that he made in that game that are also impressive. Probably all were not vs. Joe Thomas, but I think that your statement that it was "******ed" to think that he was "dealing with Joe Thomas" in that game falls, well, a little short of the mark.

Great take on Roberts by Dussault (w clips):

A Closer Look at Elandon Roberts

With Freeny and McClellin probably out or limited vs Cincy
look forward for more of this

ps
@ story of BB finding Roberts we have a nice saying:

If you hit what you aimed at .. you miss all the rest

it was garbage time against a garbage offense with zero at stake.......there's no need to get all defensive

color me unconvinced
