FYI, the Hawkins tender is the low tender, so no compensation would have to be paid. He's someone I'd hope NE at least looked at as a slot option.

ROFL. The Polamalu extension is 3 years 20m. I hope 0 of that is guaranteed. Jesus, remember when Pittstburgh used to make smart financial decisions? Loyalty isn't worth 7 million a year for a broken down safety just because he used to be good.

Wow, that's got to be "up to 20 million" with huge per-game bonuses factored in.

I am not sure if this has been reported but Derek Cox is now a UFA.

Chargers released CB Derek Cox.
Cox inked a four-year, $20 million contract on the second day of free agency last year and received $10.25 million guaranteed for one season of abysmal play. The Chargers save $4.25 million in cash but are eating $3.9 million in dead money. The move clears just $1.65 million in cap space. Cox was benched multiple times last season. He was deemed expendable for a team that really needs corner help. Cox is still just 27 years old.Mar 4 - 2:45 PM

One of the most underplayed media stories of the last few years has been how bad the Steelers have been in the personnel department. Their drafts have been mediocre at best. Other than 2010 (where they had a solid draft), I would argue they haven't had a really good draft in almost a decade.

Albert Breer ? @AlbertBreer
CB @CortFinnegan tweeted his good bye to St. Louis, but Rams have to wait until Tuesday to actually make the move, b/c of cap restrictions.

Cortland Finnegan to be released. Add him to the list of 2nd tier CBs to target if we lose Talib. (Davis, Shields, Finnegan)

Honestly, even though they're solid players I want nothing to do with anymore undersized CBs like Shields/Finnegan.

What is your opinion of Avant, DaBruinz?

I would think that he'd be the typical kind of "reasonable" money signing at the position myself, assuming that the money/value are there of course.

He had a bit of a downturn in '13 with only 38 catches, but prior to that he had three seasons in a row with 50+ catches.

I am far from being a decent talent evaluator, but for some reason Avant has been a guy who I've thought about for awhile, as I remember wanting him last time he hit the open market.

I think that Avant would be an upgrade over Collie. I think that Avant would fit in nicely as a guy to spell Thompkins or give the Pats another set of sure hands in the Red Zone.

Say a tweet earlier that said Talib was looking for Top 5 CB money. If that is the case, he's gone. He's not worth it.

Correct me if i am wrong but i think the direct quote was "Top of the Market" money. not that could mean grimes @ 8m per or it could be the revis type deal (unrealistic).

I think realistically 7-8m per over 3-4 years was always going to be what Talib was after.

Ian Rapoport ?@RapSheet 51m

Talked about Jairus Byrd on Total Access: #Browns are interested. Bills still in play. Doubt Eagles are. What about Jets? Same system.

I still think eagles go after him

Per @JasonLaCanfora, the Broncos will be releasing Champ Bailey.

Wow, I'm surprised the Broncos cut Bailey outright. Dang it, a great move as he's toast as a CB.

Adam Schefter ?@AdamSchefter 2m
Broncos are releasing CB Champ Bailey, as @JasonLaCanfora reported. Denver frees up $10 million in cap space but loses a leader.

The Broncos have 27 million in cap space now, but have key holes at #2 WR, #1 CB, #3 CB, #1 DE, and G.

With the cap savings that they received, I think it was a good move as well.

I think they are really going to go all in for the last couple of years of Peyton Manning's career. Just my opinion.

Elway stated that they'd be aggressive in free agency, so this gives them almost 30 million to spend (assuming that they save 10 million+ from the cutting of Bailey). I believe they had about 18 million under the cap prior to this move, but I don't follow it as closely as some others, so I could be a little off.

EDIT: Sorry, I see that you've addressed it already. Looks like 27 million.

I completely agree, supa. IMO, the Broncos, more importantly, Manning, has 1 more year left to win a SB. In 2015, Demaryius Thomas, Julius Thomas, Wes Welker, and Von Miller are all free agents. Throw in the fact that Manning will be 39 in 2015, the high powered Broncos have 1 year left in their current state.

I think they will fill #2 WR with a big name (Jones or Nicks), and either resign DRC or even try to go all in and get Revis. They have the cap space for Revis and a #2 WR.

Yep. Even if they don't bring in a good WR2, they'd still have both Thomases and Welker. Realistically, I think they could get by without spending too much at that particular position, but we'll have to see how they intend to play it.

Even a higher round (1-3) draft choice, or a lower/middle tiered free agent WR would probably look pretty good in that offense. I think they also have Andre Caldwell too, who has shown flashes at times and knows the offense. If I'm them, I don't even worry about losing Decker--but that's just me. I'd spend that money to try and shore up other areas of the team myself.

Waiting for word that they traded with Tampa for Revis in 3...2...

Elway's going all in, period.

Hell, maybe they replace Decker with Desean Jackson, too.
