re: Ed Reed released by Texans [Update: Picked Up By Jets]
Quote from Reed:
If nothing else, he's acknowledged that he isn't the player that he used to be. He's been pretty frank about it.
The more I think about it, the more I think Ed Reed is a bad fit:
- He was a below average safety last year and horrible this year.
- He is a locker room lawyer. He campaigned against Harbaugh in Baltimore. Called out Wade Phillips publicly in Houston. Not a leader.
- He is redundant since he plays McCourty's position and not Gregory's. Gregory is better than him, but injured. McCourty is worlds better than him.
- He will likely be a problem unless the Pats make him a starter (he just shot his way out of town in Houston because of that reason).
Ed Reed is no longer Ed Reed that we remember. He might be a good 10-20 snaps a game type of player, but he refuses to accept that is his skill level anymore. I think the Pats should pass on him. And early indication is they will.
Quote from Reed:
“I’m not perfect and I know I am held to a higher standard because of what I’ve done in the past but that was the past and I am a totally different player now,” said Reed. “But, even when I did go out there, the ball didn’t come my way, but that’s neither here nor there.”
If nothing else, he's acknowledged that he isn't the player that he used to be. He's been pretty frank about it.
