    @venecol
These are the greatest 3 coners of all time.
The only name I recognized was that Bastard Sorensen who got abused by Gronk in the AFCCG.

Everybody missed on Welker. He went undrafted.

First, not all of these are WR.

Belichick believes that 3 cone time is important in his evaluation of WR talent.

BTW, I think that Wonderlic results are ONE important in evaluating quarterbacks. DO I prove that false by listing the punters and TE ends that score the highest? Do I list those with low Wonderlics who have succeeded? Or do I simply accept that for some, this is an important evaluation tool.

Hey, some GM's consider heights of under 6 2 to be red flags for quarterbacks. The fact there are vertically challenged quarterbacks that have succeeded doesn't make this approach unreasonable.

Agreed. And notice that none of those guys ended up on the Patriots so clearly 3 cone alone is not the secret sauce for Belichick.

I totally agree. Only 4 of those are WR, the other 6 are DB.
There is no single, perfect metric - I appreciate @Kasmir explaining that to me.

Since you mentioned the Wonderlic, it seems like it really doesn't correlate strongly with success at any position. Of the 6 worst Wonderlic scores of all time - 2 are quarterbacks.
    Top Wonderlics all time
    1. Punter
    2. Def End
    3. WR
    4. QB
    5. TE (Ben Watson)

Wonderlic scores are interesting. Yes, lots of players are just poor test takers, so their scores don't mean much. But, OTBE, I would prefer to have higher scores at certain positions. Yes, QB is one; center is another; MLB is another. Smarts are useful for a WR who plays in an offense where he needs to figure out defenses (in the same way as the QB) and have different route trees depending on that assessment. Sometimes being dumb as a brick is truly a disadvantage. My guess is that there is very little correlation in positions like RB and defensive lineman.

This opinion is totally unsupported. Rating by media types are irrelevant. Belichick has a very short draft list. When he drafted Duggar, Asiasi, and Keene, teams in the next few picks after the patriots drafted players at the same positions where Belichick drafted. Belichick didn't want to lose is player, even if fans would think that he reached. After all, the fans of those immediately after the patriots probably thought that their teams reached also.

Keene would have gone in the 6th round. good player but wayy too early. How do you pass up Trautman right there? Trautman and Asiasi would have been a deadly combo.

Green Bay passed on Trautman to take a TE who was "ranked" even lower than Keene. Just saying

Probably because they feel that Keene is the better player or the better player for their system, or both. Just spit-balling. And you are talking out of your ass when you state that Keene would have gone in the 6th round. You don't know that, and neither do the guys who wrote the draft guides who projected that.

Joe Thuney supposely missed Wonderlic questions on purpose as not to come off as too smart.

If he scored a 50 out of 50 on the test would he have approved his 3rd (78) draft position much?

No I tell you NO. Bill Belichick has no clue how to evaluate college and NFL players and just refuses to recognize that it’s a well documented fact what round every player will go in. The people posting on this board have spent much more time evaluating these players, know exactly when they will be picked, understand how the my will fit into Belichicks system and have a far deeper understanding of the trend needs than that amateur idiot Belichick.
I think there must be 20 posters on this board who if they took over in 2000 would ha e won all 20 SBs since. Problem is they are such geniuses they would have to give up the billions they must be making doing something else to lower themselves to his level and do such a simple job that is so beneath them.

Keene possibly has the highest ceiling of all the TEs drafted being the most atheltic in the class. Also didn't get a whole lot of usage but when he was used he popped. I seriously dont think we reached. The way I look at it is they REALLY wanted him.

Just remember where you heard this first ... months ago. GB is trying to convert Degaura into a FB as well. I think Keene will only see a few snaps there. Too valuable in other areas imo but I definitely wouldn't be shocked to see him there. I'm guessing we'll see a lot of things we haven't seen the next time NEP take the field.

I honestly think Asiasi has a higher ceiling if he goes the Gronk route of grinding away and absorbing the coaching. No clue if he wants it bad enough though.
