Draft Thoughts/Impressions

My longer, in-depth thoughts ^^, but quicker...LOVED THE PICKS.

Just so happens I really followed Smart in college just because he intrigued me and I really like what Young did at UK this past season, so I love both picks


Also, Ainge isn't done. I think he still goes after Love. This isn't over.

We have 2 pure point guards on the team. It will be interesting to see if Ainge makes a move. I'm not a huge Smart fan, because i think he forces the issue. He's 6'6 PG with is intriguing, but . Young is raw, I think he would have benefit more from a couple more years of college. He'll be a intriguing bench player

Smart is not 6'6; he's barely 6'3.

There were 3 names I dreaded to hear called at #6: Aaron Gordon, Dante Exum…and Smart.

Noah Vonleh should've been the pick at 6, and Gary Harris at 17.

Danny blew another draft outta his azz, again.

He should've bought a 2nd-rounder too; then again, he wouldn't have had to buy any had he
not foolishly gave away not just one, but both of this year's 2nd-rounders to Dallas in order
to move a mere 3 spots for someone who would very likely have been there for the taking
at 16 anyway.

Time will tell. My desire for this draft would have been seeing Saunders allow Love to be traded to the Celtics, and thus we'd begin planning a Love/Rondo foundation.

While getting Love is still possible, if it doesn't happen I think Ainge trades Rondo for some value, and thus, needs to have his replacement. All PGs are a crap shoot - hopefully Ainge got a good one with Smart, but everyone's a risk outside of the top 2

I'll give Ainge some credit for playing the cards he has in the way he has thus far - but there's a long way to go in this rebuild - Love can still give it a jump start, but if not it's Plan B or C or wherever we are now.

If this draft is last year the story line is the Celtics got a #2 pick at #6 ...

I love the Smart pick ... he'll be in the league for 10-12 years.
Not all star caliber but pure blue collar who plays to the last whistle to win and he can defend a ++.

Now I pray they trade Rondo ... hate friggin Rondo.
Viewed much better locally than he really is ...
He is a good player on a team with 2-3 legit scorers but he is not the man and never will be the man.

First, Smart is 6'4 225 and a tank. He can play the 1 or 2.

Second, Noah Vonleh is less of a sure thing than Gordon or Smart. He has character issues which is why he fell to 9. He didn't prove to be anything special at Indy. He has great size, yes but is still VERY raw.

Third, Gary Harris' ceiling is not high at all. He is a pretty good player now but has no real upside in the league except being a decent shooter/role player, not to mention he'd add to the list of small scrawny guards too. Young is not even 19 yet, and is a legit scorer. He can take to the paint and knock down 3's. Young has the size to play the 3 or the athleticism to be a 2 as well. He may not be as polished as Harris to this point, but after this season he could already be lightyears ahead of Harris.

And please don't complain about not getting a 2nd rounder. maybe 1-2 second rounders actually do something in their NBa careers each season.

Actually, I thought that Ainge did a very good job drafting up to 2007. I would've chosen Luke Ridnour
over Marcus Banks in '03, and Ramon Sessions over Gabriel Pruitt in '07; otherwise, I had no complaints with the rest of his picks. Beginning in 2008 however, he's had as many misses as hits.
