Did the Jaguars give up too much? How much would it have cost the Patriots for Hunter?

We're not one DB/WR hybrid away from being a contender, IMO.

The podcast I just listened to (Bedard?) mentioned that many coaches feel he is a good prospect at both DB and WR but needs development. They said he's not plug and play at either position.

Personally I'm glad we kept our draft capital and went with BPA that just happened to be at a position of need.

I won't cry if in four years from now he's just an average OL. It's a ****ing lottery. No one knows where these guys will be in four years.

Jacksonville gave up a ton for a WR/CB on a team that was equally as bad as the Patriots last year.

I really wanted Hunter and I do think he’ll be great in the NFL.

But for a rebuilding team I’d also hate not having a 2nd round pick today and missing out on the first round next season

BTW, I am still not convinced that Lawrence is anything more than an average QB. Other than a few games, there wasn't much of a drop off to the Jags' offense with Mac Jones as starter than with Trevor Lawrence. Granted having Hunter will definitely help the offense when he is out there, but I don't know if that fixes the Jags' problems.

The overall QB numbers outside of sacks are nearly identical

They rushed for less TDs and had fewer rushing yards than the Patriots

They had four more total TDs than the Patriots

They gave up more passing yards than anybody

They gave up more passing TDs than the Patriots

They gave up more rushing yards than the Patriots, they gave up more rushing TDs than the Patriots

They had nine total takeaways all season (worst)

What metric did you use to show they weren’t equally as bad?

Granted having Hunter will definitely help the offense when he is out there, but I don't know if that fixes the Jags' problems.

I don't think a combination of Lombardi, Halas and Belichick with Eddie DeBartolo as the owner could fix the Jag's problems.

Yep, that's an excellent way of stating it. I'm not sure it was Bedard who made the comments though. It may have been Conor Orr of Sports Illustrated.

It was also said if he remains a two-way player it'll be really difficult for him to get coached up, since he will be splitting his time between DB and WR coaches.

I know Zolak, who loves Hunter, has been really critical of his route running and how much it needs work.

That is about even as it gets, there really wasn't even a kicker involved for the Blue Chip.

Cleveland obviously wanted a '26 1st, so there is a lot of small picks in there to even the trade out, it would look pretty similar for NE I assume. 4 is worth around 100 points more than 5, but 4,38 and '26 1st would still be the base of the trade.

I believe that WR makes the most sense for Hunter in a league driven by passing. The Jags can dictate Hunters value on offense via the number of targets his way. The number of snaps.

He’ll get his targets if he gets open. Brian Thomas Jr had a hell of a rookie season. He’s a number 1 WR in the NFL. Hunter will likely be the underneath target. The one thing that is clear is that there are no more excuse for Trevor Lawrence. He’s got a couple of alphas at WR now.
