I don't think that this has been posted here, but if so, I apologize. In today's MMQB:

On TV all these years, I never saw Bill Belichick smile,'' Bryant said. "But we had a great conversation, and he was smiling a lot. I really liked it there. I think I'd be a good fit there.''

Santonio Holmes trade to New York Jets almost as surprising as Donovan McNabb trade - Peter King - SI.com

Yeah, I know, not exactly a show-stopper, but it's still kinda interesting to know that Belichick presents a different face to players than he does to the media.

IMO Thomas will be the first WR taken this year and will go before our pick comes up at 22. It looks like Bryant will be available at 22 so it will be interesting to see if we take him and go defense in round 2

I read this earlier. It certainly feels like he's a strong "maybe" but the thoughts of a first round WR are reasonably spooky.

now i don't want him the last time BB liked a WR and that WR said he would be a good fit the pats got chad jackson, lol

I don't expect him to be around when the Patriots pick, so that would solve the problem right there.

Between now and April 22nd every prospect is a big fan of every NFL coach and team when asked that question.

What do you expect him (or anyone else in that position) to say?

I think Pittsburgh will either take Bryant or draft an OT for their #1 pick

After losing thier best WR,I would assume the Steelers look at the best WR in the draft in Bryant, although his off field problems could be an issue with an already pissed off Rooney II

I'd rather Golden Tate and BB has taken Notre Dame players from the draft than any other school,so he has a chance at 44

I think after Holmes and Roethlisberger's news stories, the last thing Pittsburgh will do is draft a player the public considers to have character issues in the first round.

Though they won't match Holmes' production, the Steelers did add Arnaz Battle and Antwaan Randle El. Mike Wallace looked real good in his rookie year too.

Pittsburgh has bigger needs. Much of their offensive line needs an upgrade whether it's OT or G/C, they need to groom a replacement for ILB James Farrior, and their corners are mediocre. In addition they probably want to start looking for a replacement for NT Casey Hamption and OLB Lamar Woodley soon. WR is way down on their list of needs in my opinion.

Hakeem Nicks looked pretty good in his rookie year with Eli throwing to him. WRs are a risky proposition in the first round, but not prohibitively so. Bryant is definitely worth a look if he makes it to #22.

I think you're spot on with this assessment.

Wallace showed plenty of promise to start alongside Ward, and Heath Miller is almost like a Dallas Clark--in the sense that he's almost another WR. Wallace has shown that he can go deep very well, and move the chains when needed too. He's certainly ready to take over, not to mention as you stated, they also added Arnez Battle and Antwan Randle-El. I think it's possible they even give Limas Sweed one more chance, as he was a 2nd rd pick too.

Couple that with a WR pick somewhere in the draft, 3rd-4th-5th, and they have absolutely no reason to worry.

I expect him to be complimentary, but the nature of the compliment was interesting.

Everyone likes to compare an early receiver to chad jackson.....Jackson was just a speed guy that's it and he played at Florida......It seems like there are more Florida receiver busts than any other at the wr position in the NFL....

Bryant's skill set is so much more......He is big, fast, and will out jump most guys to go up and get the ball.....He is my favorite player if he is available at 22 and if BB doesn't take him I think my TV will go out the window.....This guy is the most sure thing for a receiver in this draft imo....

I have to say that I am definitly intrigued by Bryant, though I really would like to see a pass rushing OLB more than a receiver. People were talking about how Sam Aiken would be part of the receiving core this season and I wanted to cry.

Dez Bryant could be a monster at receiver, he has the skills to really be impressive, however he does drop too many balls and appears to be a headcase.

A definite risky pick to be sure.

My general feeling is you draft the trenches early and skill positions later, so I'm not sure I'd want a WR in round 1.

That being said, WR is definitely a need both now and down the road, so if BB likes Bryant a lot, it's not a bad pick.

Maybe not round one, but we definitely need to add a WR with one of our top picks. My guess would be one of the first two 2nd round picks. Its hard to speculate because you dont know who will be gone by the time the Patriots are set to pick. My guess would be first round: OLB/DE, first 2nd round pick: TE, second 2nd round pick: WR.

First four picks ought to be DL, OLB, WR and OL (not necessarily in that order).

What about a TE? Do you think we'll sign a TE or make a trade for one or do you think we're fine with just Crumpler?
