Situational Un-awareness he probably thought it was 3rd Down.

To not know where the first down marker is on 4th and 1 with the game on the line is the red flag of red flags. He might have a future but i dont see it in the jmd offense. We are also going to be seeing alot of zone defense due to drake’s scrambling threat which doesn’t suit him either.

Ive said before this season is mostly about evaluation so normally id be willing to give things time, but logically its tough to justify trotting this guy out there again at least for now.

We need to try and get one of the DJ Moore or Chris Olave. Our Receivers Numbers are Poor: I'm sure Ryan Cowden knows that. I can't believe Bony Thornton is giving us the finger.

I expect to see a shake up this week ie... Diggs in the Slot with Boutte and Williams outside and Chism Active. IF at least Two of those Three things don't happen: I'm going to question Mike Vrabel.

I’m not sure if Williams is ready yet but hopefully theyre at least ramping him up to significant snaps. Definitely hope to see chism active.

IF Kyle Williams is not ready: then Pop and Tarzan are both Cooked and not in a good way.

Panthers have allowed the fewest receiving yards to WRs through 3 games, but the most to TEs*. Might just be less of a Douglas game anyway because they’ll want to use Hooper more.

*They’ll be second if Sam LaPorta has 38 yards against the Ravens tonight.

I really want to believe in Douglas. That said, he just isn't producing. He continues to drop his opportunities and just isn't making an impact on the game.

What's the point of putting an undersized wr out there if he isn't going to make plays?

I'm all for giving Chism a chance next week and seeing how it goes. Sit Pop, maybe that will light a fire.

Sit pop and rham for at least 3 weeks . At least it will light a fire in their belly . It will also serve as a warning for other to buckle up . And the next man will get 2 to 3 games and their draft position is not even considered. If they contribute they stay . Same goes with diggs too.

There absolutely needs to be consequences for making the same mistakes over and over. Vrabel has to show that to the team while at the same conveying the message that hard work and mistake-free practices will get them playing time again.

I do think 3 weeks is excessive but I agree they should be placed in time-out until they deserve another chance.

He was a 6th round pick for a reason. People have these grand illusions that he's some huge breakout candidate ready to be a steal. That just doesn't seem to be the case. He's a roster worthy player who could contribute in the return game if used there and has some physical skills that would make him a good package player on offense. They should embrace that role for him vs. trying to make him more than he is.

In an ideal world you'd have a strong top 3 at WR and Douglas could be #4 who contributes as a returner and in track/gadget plays.

How do you deserve another chance if you are doing nothing?

Stevenson needs to be relentlessly coached up about fumbling.

Douglas is a guy who when he is playing you wish you had someone better to put out there. But we have 2 of those taking up snaps.
One stupid play isn’t a reason to bench him. Many football players aren’t smart and Douglas never struck me as a MENSA candidate.
But it’s the ineffectiveness that is the real problem.
In his last 14 games he has 389 receiving yards. He isn’t good.
He seems to not run routes properly, and makes a lot of mental errors.
I’d be fine with giving Chism his snaps because it really can’t get worse but we also need to get Hollins out of there. Hes an even bigger problem because he’s playing 40 snaps a game.

Let’s think about this.
How does having a player stop playing football for 3 weeks help them?
Are we really saying a HC in the NFL should think players “need a fire in their belly” and benching them makes them suddenly care?

Exactly what are you warning other players? Don’t make mistakes or I will get emotional about it and bench you? That will really put them in a good mind set.

Football players are humans. How does it work in your life if someone makes a mistake and you call them a pariah, and banish them? Does that help them? Do the other people who see it suddenly change their ways because they were making mistakes and didn’t realize they weren’t supposed to.

The childish ignorant responses on this board today have been classic.

Mommy, he took my win away from me and I deserved to win, I want you ti punish him because that wasn’t fair to me.

We used to be a fan base that was spoiled, we’ve become a fan base that need to grow the **** up

The funniest part of this conversation is we’ve had it before, it was a 4th down, Brady threw a short out route to Edelman and the game ended just inches short. I believe it was a playoff game.

The mistake wasn’t that the receiver didn’t make a Herculean effort to get the down, the mistake was throwing behind the sticks. It was dumb. I’m putting it on Josh, just like I did when it was Brady and Edelman.

He did something...twice....but I get your point. The coach still needs to so something about it. Their HAS to be consequences otherwise others will see it as no big deal. Pay, playing time, laps, something.

Agree

He should only take snaps in the slot where "it really can't get any worse" but 40 is too much. Should be more like 10-15.

Stevenson has a track record. It hasn't improved. Time to move on. How many games has he cost us? Too many. I'm not anti Pop Douglas but I would give Chism some playing time. Whether it's the player or the scheme, Chism might be a better fit.

He needs to be coached. Banishment isn’t coaching. Fear doesn’t stop mistakes. I didn’t see a careless lack of effort, I saw sloppy fundamentals.
I don’t agree that players are all lazy and want to make mistakes and be sloppy and the only thing preventing it is the fear of running laps.

To me the consequences is a clear understanding that we just can’t have that, that he will be recoached on correct ball security and he must implement it.

Why even have Hollins in the slot? Hes useless. Playing him there because the other guy is useless to doesn’t help.
Every snap Hollins gets is one Williams should have so he can develop.

It improved belichicks last year when he only fumbled once. It improved on the 191 touches in a row with 1 fumble before yesterday.

How many games has he cost us? One? If his fumbles last year would have made a difference in a game or 2 we wouldn’t have been any better off.

How can you not be anti Douglas? What’s to like?

Douglass sucks and it's been apparent for a while. Guys on pace to have under 100 yards... for the season! Pats may or may not have better options but you at least have to try.

Douglas may in fact suck but that is irrelevant to whether the approach suggested by the poster is sensible or not.

You do realize they tried all off season to find better options and decided Douglas belonged. Do you really throw out a year of evaluation because you are angry about how one play turned out?

I agree he contributes very little, I am objecting to the mentality if the post, which would end up before too long having to get rid of almost the entire team for one reason or another.

My point is this approach is not based upon one play or even one game.

That Douglas is still here is not necessarily because the team believes in him. They believe in him more than Polk and Baker. That's a pretty low bar but he cleared it.

3 weeks is too long but negative consequences are in fact necessary and if used appropriately helpful for the long term performance of the team.

I don’t disagree 2 with you but the posters wanting to mete out punishment based that upon 1 play and are endorsing a management style that says you made a mistake f you, your cut in order to scare the rest of the team into doing their job, which is asinine. M

Douglas isn’t getting the job done overall, not because of that play. It seems likely another player should surpass him on the depth chart, but the knuckle dragging mentality is stupid.
