Declining Brady in the playoffs?

To me Parker's argument had no credibility the second he suggested removing the Denver stats from the equation. That is just stacking the deck. That is a political statement.

Agree, if we're going to cherry pick, why not cherry pick the other way. What was Brady's QB rating before he re-injured his shoulder in the sack in SB46? He was 20-23 with two TD tosses to that point.

I think people forget how well the offense performed for much of that game since the lasting impressions is the key misconnection with Welker. They only had the ball a handful of times, and were pinned back by their goal-line most of the game.

All we can do is hope for another shot at redemption.

In two of his last three playoff games Aaron Rodgers has completed only 56% of his passes, as opposed to career average of 65%. In two of his last three playoff games he has a QB rating of 55.4 and 78.5, with more interceptions than touchdowns. Drew Brees has lost two of his last three playoff starts.
I'm concluding that the defenses at that level are not just elite but that they are playing at an intense level. Something has to give, and it looks like QB stats.

QB stats surely are affected by the way the rest of his team plays too. Any real analysis of this phenomenon would have to include that. If your team lays a stink bomb then your QB can be anybody you choose and it's going to be a rough day.

Brady hasn't done too well in the playoffs since the 18-1 game.

Since then, he played poorly against the Ravens in 2009, Jets in 2010, and subpar games against the Ravens and Giants again this past playoffs

This Will Tom Brady Reach Another Super Bowl? - ESPN Video - ESPN is a pretty entertaining argument between Rob Parker, Skip Bayless and Eric Mangini as the latter two fend off a very aggressive Parker who claims Tom's playoff numbers prove that Tom is done making rings.

This is unquestionably a spirited argument with the heat boiling, but there is a disingenuous attempt by Parker (caught in the act) to pad his numbers. It just goes to show you what a desperate mind will do to win an argument based on likes and dislikes.

You watch E!SPN? Excuse me, the guys that are not good enough for the real E!SPN and are relegated to the developmental league of E!SPN2?

I bet you like watching train wrecks too.

Depends heavily on your definitions, but they were pinned inside their 10 3 times and inside their 20 4 times. They never started with good field position, but I don't think your depiction is all that accurate.

Agreed with the rest of your points though; ignoring the rest of the Pats' success since spygate is lunacy. Their luck in the big game has evened out, but chances are they're going to make it there at least a few more times before BB and Brady are gone and win at least another one.

It's too bad the documentation on all this is so obscured.

I think Parker's intent was to produce some stats that proved that Brady was "over rated" and in such a case you have to look at all of the facts, including injuries. But if the Pats don't make the injury data available that is going to work against Tom when people look at his SB numbers.

And of course none of us makes those on a sports board.

I stopped watching or listening to Parker, not that I did watch him much anyway, after he made a blatantly racist comment a couple of years ago. He was the one who claimed that if a white player made the comments that Jason Tuck made about Cam Newton before CM was drafted, there would have been an uproar.

But you figure the world has use for the kinds of individuals who wish potentially fatal diseases upon other people?

He is taking full advantage of the freedom to be classless. While that idiotic post is his own it makes all Pats fans look bad.

Brady played poorly this past playoffs? The Ravens game he was decent, but he was pretty good in the SB. Its funny how people forget he set a record for the most consecutive completions in that game. They scored 17 straight points after being shut out in the first quarter and only had the ball for what 22 mins?? I will give you the Jets/Raven prior seasons though!

Disagree. (10 char)

First possession of the game... he panics in the end zone... throws the ball away.... SAFETY.

We were playing catch up from that point on. He had a good drive towards the end of the first half..... but he could never put them away in the 2nd half.

A "good" drive is an understatement. It was the longest drive in SB history, and given the circumstances, maybe one of the best.

As for the safety - I still think it was an unprecedented call, and he was already winding up before the hit. And he could've argued the throw was affected by Tuck. But really, what else was he to do there? Tuck sprung free of Mankins so abruptly that it was either get sacked for a safety or toss it somewhere and hope the refs don't call it. It's a risk you take when you run a slow-developing play that puts the QB into their own end zone. Billy O'Brien took some responsibility for that play later, and he should.

Brady's biggest mistake on that play was not putting up a fight with the refs. I think the refs were in as shock as Brady was, and had as much uncertainty. Had Brady put up a fight, it's possible that doesn't get flagged.

Believe me, it makes me want to vomit as much as anyone that we don't have the ring to punctuate this list. The "haven't done anything since Spygate" crap is the reason I have this unhealthy burning desire to see SB42 & SB46 avenged.

And god-willing, we will see this list punctuated with ring #4. But the next time someone says the Patriots haven't done anything since Spygate, feel free to verbally slap them in the face with anything on this list.

When we get ring #4, the stupidity can finally end completely. I dream of that day.

Unfortunately, the haters would probably just claim that the Pats must've figured out a new way to cheat. It'll never die with them.

I have begun encouraging the cheater theory having realized I was peaing up a rope trying to discuss it rationally.

Had great fun with some Philly fans on vacation here on Cape just BSing them on what BB REALLY did to beat them in the SB.

The wilder the claim I made the more likely I was to hear " I knew it".
