N’Keal Harry is still a Free Agent, maybe the Pats can sign him
It looks like the Pats might have to outbid Dallas though. Let the bidding war begin!

If he's going to be an idiot with his money, then another contract won't help.

It would be nice to add Hopkins, but it would be nicer if Mac is given valid reason to feel confident about standing strong in the pocket, for a change.

I might first give Cincinnati a ring-dingy about Jonah Williams before committing an offer to Hopkins that would use-up the rest of our cap space for the season... It'll cost draft picks too, but I really Really don't believe that Anderson/Reiffer is the cure for what ails Mac there...

I think Klemm's presents will help a lot more than we think, or atleast hopeful. A 2nd year Strange, hopefully a realigned Brown (mentally) and Reiff should be a big improvement over last year.

Not saying don't look for ways to upgrade, by all means, but I think we will see much improved line play simply from having a dedicated line coach that you know actually knows how to coach the line.

Hopkins, IMO, gives this offense a chance to be a legitimate top 7 offense. I think right now they have the potential to be a top 10-15.

And assuming the Defense is what we think it is or should be. That's a solid football team.

Now if we can just get rid of those mental **** ups.

I am feeling pretty good about this teams potential.

You realize they only play a few wide receivers on every play right? Usually between 2 and 4,.
Regardless of how many WRs in whatever given formations, why if you're trimming your WR corps are you eliminating your 3rd best WR (if you add Hopkins)? Right now Parker is WR2, with the addition of Hopkins he's WR3. Your top 4 WRs are going to get significant snaps and I'd prefer Parker remain among those top 4. Hopkins increases the value of the current group, and if you have to trim WR personnel, then do it on the backend (cut the WR with the lowest potential).

$$$$$$$$

Cutting Parker clears a **** ton of cap space to account for Hopkins.

I think you are underestimating JuJu's ability of YAC in an O'Brien offense. Meyers' was clutch catching the ball when throwing to him, but if you hit him for 5-6 yards, that is all you are going to get. JuJu will take a five yard pass and make it 10-15 yards. I think as long as he can stay healthy, he is going to be a big improvement.
JuJu Smith-Schuster (with Patrick Mahomes) vs Jakobi Meyers (with Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe)

JuJu (16 games)

Rec 78
R/G 4.9
Yards 933
Y/G 58.3
Y/R 12.0
TD 3
1D 47
Catch% 77.2%
Drop% 5.9%
PR 102.5

Jakobi (14 games)

Rec 67
R/G 4.8
Yards 804
Y/G 57.4
Y/R 12.0
TD 6
1D 38
Catch% 69.8%
Drop% 4.2%
PR 116.0

Receptions and yards per game are nearly identical. Y/R is exactly the same. JuJu had a higher catch% but also a higher drop%. Jakobi had twice as many TDs and a higher passer rating when targeted. A significant variable here is the quarterbacks each had. JuJu had the league MVP. Jakobi had a struggling Mac and a rookie. Then there's the Andy Reid vs Matt Patricia factor. All things considered, Jakobi was the better receiver in 2022. I think any assumption that JuJu will be a "big improvement" (or even any improvement at all) is way off base.

JuJu was very good in his first two seasons (2017 & 2018) with Antonio Brown terrorizing DBs on the other side of the field. That was 5 years ago. I think we saw his current ceiling last season with Reid and Mahomes (78-933-3). I'll like JuJu better if Hopkins joins the team. Otherwise he's a poor man's WR1.

If Hopkins is in, you can be sure Parker or Bourne are out.
I see the scenarios are getting worse. So now... Hopkins in and Parker AND Bourne out?? I'm not sure we'll have gotten any better in the aggregate... from Meyers, Parker & Bourne to Hopkins, JuJu & Tyquan. Hopkins is the best of all of them but I'm not sure there's a clear #2. Bourne to Tyquan is an obvious downgrade. Plus we'll be starting the season out with a revamped offense and essentially all new targets for Mac to gel with? Extend training camp isn't going to work this season with a September schedule of Eagles, Dolphins, @Jets, and @Cowboys.

I like Hopkins over Parker. I'm just saying ideally you add Hopkins and go into the season with Hopkins WR1, JuJu WR2, and Parker WR3.

I would like JuJu and Jakobi Meyers, but the cap allowed for one. JuJu is allegedly an upgrade.

Hopkins is an upgrade from Parker. I would do that too. But keeping both is not financially realistic.

D-Hop is no brainer for the Patriots the gap between him and can't separate Parker is huge.

Again, that's not my point. I agree Hopkins is better than Parker. However, of the guys on the WR depth chart, I'll take Parker as my WR3 (with Hopkins and JuJu). If it's the only way it works financially (which I truly doubt) then dump Hopkins for Parker if you must. But then also cut Bourne? The upgrade will not be ascending so much under that scenario. Really any scenario that elevates Tyquan above (an infrequently used) WR4 is getting shaky.

Reading isn't your strong suit.

Both Parker and Bourne have been floated as potential casualties with a Hopkins signing. Even without Hopkins, there has already been speculation that Parker may get cut. It's possible both Parker and Bourne get cut if Hopkins is signed. So I don't know what you're talking about. Maybe next time just leave the obligatory emoji.

Bourne will be Macs new # 1 binky now that Meyers is gone.

I see no point in getting rid of Parker or Bourne. Both know the offense well.

It seems like Tyquan have made strides his skill set is better than both Parker and Bourne if he makes the Second year jump.
