So he’s the first one in the building. Is he the last one out, though?
Agree just pointing out we're already getting discrepancies from people there. The defense winning practice this early on doesn’t surprise or alarm me. Defense usually comes out ahead of offense early on. This is more about the offense working on its timing and some situational football.
Thought I would start a new thread as the other thread is getting very long. Might be a good idea to start these on a daily basis as in the past. Also getting pm's from posters asking where are the training camp threads..... If you have a poster on ignore and they start a thread, you will not be able to see it. just an fyi.
Elijah is right. Wr1/2/3 has nothing yo do with what position they play. JE certainly lined up all over the field but so did A.Brown, who played a lot of slot but like JE,was always wr1. The designation is about who is your TOP wr- not where they line up. The best wrs today play mutiple positions. Julio Jones has done plenty of work in the slot.Yes I agree for the Patriots. For the past 20 years that makes sense.
I see it different.JE,was always wr1
no!I get where you're coming from, but come on man... can we enjoy the first few days of camp before we turn full sourpuss
How so? Edelman was the Pats wr1 for a long time, right up to his retirement. You gotta go back a lotta years to early in his career for when he wasnt Pats top wr.I see it different.
I don't mind being wrong. I just think it's about match ups and not WR1. Edelman almost always had the upper hand in who was covering him because of his skills...so it made more sense to go to him because he was the superior player....not because he was WR1.How so? All due respect bro, you might see it different but youre wrong
Dont want to get into semantics with you.I don't mind being wrong. I just think it's about match ups and not WR1. Edelman almost always had the upper hand in who was covering him because of his skills...so it made more sense to go to him because he was the superior player....not because he was WR1.
I agree and I think it's semantics as I said originally. Although I do see a little different skill set with Jerry Rice and Julio Jones compared to Julian Edelman.Dont want to get into semantics with you.
But again, theres no correlation between the x,y,z and 1,2,3. I,2,3 simply refers to the order of your best wrs. You wont see 1,2 or 3 in a playbook. Youll see xyz.
Your wr1 could be primarily a sb(slot) or an x or even a z.
Edelman was not a slot receiver. Welker was. JE had many seasons when he caught more balls outside than inside the #'s. Look it up.
Jerry Rice is the goat wr. He played a LOT in the slot,as well as x.
I think people confuse slot recs with possession recs. In rhe old days thats what a lot of sbs were: quick hit, tackled right away , no yac ability. That doesnt describe JE or a lot of others who play there a bit. Today your slot can be the best athlete of all your wrs and often the fastest as well as the quickest. And plenty of top x recs, like Julio, will play slot as well because of the mismatches.
Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while. I backed him up until he demanded a trade which is laughable because hes shown zilch since his rookie training camp. And yet, by all accounts, he's caught the balls thrown to him in TC.. Shrug..
