Darrelle Revis Rumors and Speculation

And if they take one game off the Broncos then I'll be fine with this move.

Denver has a much more difficult schedule this year with the NFC West and AFC East vs last year with the AFC South and NFC East. With some of their FA (expected) losses I bet they're a 10-11 win team. Plus SD and KC should continue to get better.

I thought about this.

there is probably ZERO chance Revis ever becomes a free agent.

why?

because there is virtually no guaranteed money due on the deal, when Revis is cut he will be placed on waivers. every team is able to claim him and take on his contract (I think this is right, am I?).

the only thing you have to give u p is the $1.5M bonus due to him. this $1.5M gives you exclusive negotiating rights. if you don't sign him, all you lost is the $1.5M.

we see there are teams ahead of us in waiver order with interest. therefore, my opinion is if we want Revis, we must trade for him

He said he won't do it as part of a trade, it is POSSIBLE (unlikely, because this is still Revis we're talking about), that this is part of his plan to get cut to sign with a real team, instead of getting shipped to the Brown's or Raiders.

Pats need to sign Talib then.
Even at that, can Talib withstand being blocked by a smurf?

I have to think why would Revis agree to take less? He will become a free agent unless some team agrees to pay his amazingly huge current contract. If someone does, great for him. If no one does, he becomes a free agent and can determine where he wants to go, along with how much and for how long. Sounds like the best of both worlds. Would you rather have a one year deal with Cleveland, or a multiple year contract with the Patriots or Eagles.

And Trading with Tampa Bay has really worked out for us Talib - Blount...now _____ fill in the blank.

I thought during this period when cut, the players became free agents, but according to my ex wives, I am wrong a lot.

Once agian, the mediats making more out of this (Revis saying no to less money in a trade) than it should. Why should Revis help out the Bucs? If they don't want him, cut him! Clearly if Team A was willing to trade Y for him and pay him X, then if the Bucs cut him Team A will at least pay him X plus they might even pay him more because they didn't have to part with Y!

It's simple algebra people!!!!

No, he has enough vested time in the NFL (4 years), he becomes a free agent right away, no waivers.

Revis just told reporters he will NOT accept any less than what he's making now...per EEI justr now

No offense, but that is kinda irrelevant if he is cut. He isn't going to sit out the entire 2014 season if the best offer he gets is for $10 million a year.

here's the extent of my algebra knowledge....

It will be interesting to see what Revis ends up playing for in 2014, if at all. Will he be released? Probable unless a team thinks they won't attract him via free agency. If so, do teams offer him the $16M he was due this year and wants to play for? If that offer doesn't come, will Revis accept lower money? These next 24-48 hours will be quite entertaining.

The other thing to consider is the Bucs owe the Jets a 3rd round pick this year, IF Revis is on their roster as of Friday (something like that, the 3rd or 4th day of the NFL year), it lowers to a 4th round pick if they cut him.

So in the immortal words of Terrel Owens' girlfriend/agent they have 16 million reasons and a draft pick to cut him!

The patriots are cheapskates at least sometimes they are. At the end of day you need big time players to win the Super Bowl or get there. I'm not advocating we keep JE or overpay him, but at least get some big time players like Revis, Jared Allen here.

There is ZERO chance the New England Patriots will acquire Revis. All Revis cares about is money, he wants to blow up the bank and be paid like a QB.

Problem is belichick thinks he can stockpile picks and evaluate talent like bill walsh or jimmy johnson. He's as good a coach or better than the other toe, but dosn't have the same talent evaluation ability. Therefore the team likes to stick it improving through the draft.

Second year in a row they let their best WR leave...

It’s going to be very hard for the Buccaneers to trade cornerback Darrelle Revis.

The problem, as it usually is, is money. The contract Revis signed last year gives him $16 million per year. A season in to his relationship with the Bucs, the team that traded for him wanted him to take less.

Per a league source, Revis declined Tampa’s request to reduce his compensation. Which sparked the effort to trade him and the inevitable decision, if they can’t trade him, to cut him.

He won't take a paycut..go figure

This proves it.

This proves it.

Um no. Actually all it proves is he's unwilling to take a pay cut from bucs Nobody would accept under those circumstances. He knows if he doesn't take pay cut he will either get traded under his current deal in which case the team acquiring will pay him the 16m bc they lost leverage. Or he becomes a free agent and gets more guaranteed money

You are wayyyyyyyyyy wrong. It proves he's smart
