Posting a thread here for us to keep track of how he's doing.
When my buddy told me what happened on the way in to work Tuesday morning, I couldn't believe it.
I thought he was kidding.
"What? You're making this up, right? They actually sent everybody home?"
I was 15 when I saw Darryl paralyzed for life live on TV - it was after midnight here. By that cheap shot artist in the very same stupid stadium where our title was stolen and given to them 20 months earlier. Don't ever think I'm ever forgetting The F*cked Yule.
It was a preseason game. After the long, long time it took to take Darryl off on a stretcher, they finished the game.
It was more than 72 hours before they started to get some positive signs he would survive. In addition to everything he got pneumonia, which is not uncommon in such traumatic injuries.
We all (except Chuck Sullivan) obviously loved him and cared about him and were worried about him and praying for him.
But once he's in the care of the medical people it's over and you keep playing. This is life. Yes, football is rough. Life is rough. Should we have just let the Japanese and Germans conquer us? Or the British?
No, I don't think football players are technically essential workers. But we all, each one of us, must take responsibility for ourselves and those we are responsible for.
"Whaaaaa whaaaaa we can't keep playing the game, we love our brother!!!!!! Whaaaaa whaaaaa!!!!!"
Life sucks sometimes. You want to live it, or do you want to check out? The NFL of course is now rewarding the Bills.
Like they rewarded the Frauders 46 years ago?
