Damar Hamlin Updates

It's nice that some of these football players are donating to Damar's Charity, but seriously, they need to be giving way more than 10K...that's chump change for them.

Is it chump change? Depends on who the player is and how much they're actually earning.

Let's take Marcus Jones, who donated $1000. His contract indicates a base salary of just over 700K, with a prorated bonus of $236K. I am no expert on contracts and income, but let's suppose that after taxes, he's probably taking home around $750K annually, as a ballpark estimate. Donating $1000 is about 0.13% of his overall income.

Now let's take someone earning $40K annually. The equivalent contribution (0.13% of overall income) would be just over $50. Does a $50 donation to charity for someone earning $40K annually seem reasonable? To me, that does seem fair.

How much have you donated?

Let's stay out of peoples pockets

i’ve seen some players making 10 million or more donate 1K or 2K, which is pathetic. they can do better. they'll end up deducting it from their taxes anyway.

Gee, MAC10, was there anyone in particular that you saw in that tweet that "only" gave $10,000? Anyway people, let's not get dragged into another one of his hijacks

I’m not the one who brought up charitable donations in a thread about Damar’s medical updates…

You never would have complained about it if there wasn't a particular person on that tweet. We all know he was the trigger. A blatant troll job would have been to name him so you tried the subliminal route. Anyway I'm moving on

The thread is not specifically about Hamlin "medical" updates -- you made that up. The thread title is "Damar Hamlin Updates".

Yes, his medical condition is a very big part of this discussion. In light of what occurred, his charitable fund has also become a relevant part of this situation. This has been widely shared throughout the NFL media world (well beyond this thread).

You're being obtuse to justify that lousy comment you made. Anyone who's been here for more than 5 minutes knows exactly why you said what you did, and to whom you were referring. Not that this should surprise anyone.

Didn’t see @MAC10s new binky Mahomes name on the donor list. Guess Brady beats him both on the field and in charity eh?

I love the support this guy is getting. It really shows the spirit of humanity to pull together and be there for one person. One person. We've lost countless people in war, and we as a country could not be there for all of them. Yet, when it comes to a moment like this, I can't help but sympathize with the Bills family. Let's all help them to pick their brother up with prayer.

Stop derailing the thread. Some people choose not to attach their names to their donations...but I guess Brady needs to get his name out there for his generisity.

So what if he put his name there. Lots of players and celebrities have their names there too.

Attaboy GOAT. That's great

Saw D-Mac, Marcus Jones and Lawrence Guy in the top donor list. Great stuff.

Also gotta be impressed someone would give $10K anonymously.
I hadn't seen DMac or Marcus Jones, but had see Hoyer and Myles Bryant. That's awesome that so many are reaching out.
When someone like Myles Bryant donates $1K, it makes the Seahawks look cheap for only doing $1K. But that's just me.

Dude every single person realizes you just wanted to seize on an opportunity to complain about Brady. This isn't the time or place.

He's made $350 million over the past two decades and donates 10K, but whatever. I'll stop. I just find it cheap. He paid more than 500K to Alex Guerroro for his TB12 Foundation.
