could we win the SB even if we made it there?

Well there is 2001......

But this year, I wouldnt say they cant win but I wouldnt put my money on it either.

I'll most likely get laughed off the board on this but I think the defense is good enough to get the job done. The pass defense is the strength this year. If Gilly, JC, DMC, Chung, Harmon can continue to play at their current levels and if JJ and JMC can muster 3 very good games in a row they can slow down the Saints. Play 6 in the box, let Gilly and JC play bump and run man let the other 3 DBs do whatever.

With that said they won't go anywhere without a healthy Tom.

Bill will never let them play 6 in the box against KC because of their strong passing game. This is why KC gashes us every time on the ground. The other AFC teams (Chargers, Ravens, Colts, Texans) can be beaten with a minimalist front.

KC is a different animal.

Best chance they have is to keep Mahomes in the pocket and make him rush his throws. That does require 5-6 in the box with 4 on the line and the occasional blitzer.

As you know Bill will change fronts, coverages, etc throughout the game.

Chiefs lack dynamic outside the hash receivers. All their big-play production is Kelce and Weeks

I guess Damien Williams replaces what they had in Hunt but not the same level of talent.

The Steelers gave the Saints all they could handle IN THE SUPERDOME today.

The Saints secondary couldn’t slow down Brown today.

And they are the best team in the NFL with the best home field advantage.

If we even are lucky enough to play them, it would be in Atlanta.

As for the Rams, have you been watching them recently? Goff is a bit of a mess now.....and that D can be lit up.....despite all the talent they have. Word is that they traded for Flower because Suh isn’t the same guy he used to be.

Hell, it could even be a rematch with the Foles Eagles......

Steelers defense showed up.

2 fumbles and a botched fake punt saved the Saints.

What if we have to play in blizzard conditions @ Arrowhead where it favors the rushing game? Or someone tweaks their ankle in pre-game warm ups? So many things can happen....

If I ever learned anything from the 07’ season...it is that NOTHING IS GUARANTEED.

The Chiefs lost another cold weather game so to speak.

Seattle 43 and 8 mph wind. Lost
Kansas City 39 and 5 mph wind. Lost
Kansas City 27 and 0 wind. They beat the Ravens by the skin of their teeth.

Keep pressure on Mahomes and make him move. Seattle was after him all night.

Mahomes loves his sandlot ball. Andy Reid stands on the sidelines bewildered at what play they just ran.

If the Pats defense really steps up.

Its going to take all 3 phases to win it this year IMO.

...I'd say its a minor miracle if we even go to the superbowl this year.

Oh the horrors, not even going to the super Bowl! What an epic fail!

Fans of 31 other teams laugh at this sense of entitlement.

Bill is the GOAT of coaches. If we have a bye it’ll allow us to come up with a gameplan around our strengths and adapt in order to win.

Once you get to the Super Bowl, it’s almost a coin flip. Too much time to think (and overthink) game plans, two weeks of media days, celebrity status, and general circus atmosphere, a sloggish game rhythm with extra ads and a half time show longer than most HBO specials. By the end of it all, who the hell knows how players react.

I read that the NFL's preference is to play the SB with the roof open in Atl. (I am of course saying this with Brees in mind.)

I'm not 100% convinced it's going to be the Saints or Rams out of the NFC. If Trubisky can play competently, I think Chicago has a darn good chance of getting there! The Bears probably have the best defense of all the playoff teams, and they're running on a pretty good hot streak. The only thing I see de-railing them is QB play, so that's a lot on Trubisky. I'd love to see NE play them again more than 30 years later. We were oh so close to that re-match in '06, and I think a NE vs. Chi Super Bowl would be a great game! The thing is, this year, as many of you have said, it's absolutely wide open. Every team has flaws, and the Patriots are right in the thick of it!

Don’t want to get too far ahead of myself but best case scenario, we win the divisional playoff and somehow win the AFC championship, could we beat the rams or the saints?
Sure we could! Are you not a fan of this team? Have you not seen the proverbial rabbit pulled out of a hat on many an occassion? Sit back and enjoy the ride. If we keep the bye, good things can happen. Go Pats!!

Depends on:
  • What they’re seeded going into the tournament.
  • How many (if any) road games they have to play to get there.
  • Whether the run D is fixed.
  • How quickly they’re able to reinvent the offense.
  • If the WRs/Gronk can somehow start finding ways to get open consistently.
  • If Brady is injured.
Too many factors that, if they go the wrong way, will cost this team. If they can get there, anything can happen. The question is: can they even get there? I don’t think they have enough this season but would love to be proven wrong.

Patriots would have no chance against the saints or Rams.
And yes you are getting ahead of yourself. What have you seen this year that makes you think they have any shot whatsoever in Kansas City.

Are you serious with this nonsense? Have you even bothered to look at the Chiefs overall home record in the Playoffs? When was the last time they won one there in that ‘impossible’ environment?

I’m not saying the Pats are even definitely winning their first playoff game but I give them a much better chance in doing that than KC. If you look around the NFL you will only see 1 team with a perfect home record. Pats may play all their games at home up until the SB. Think about that.

Saints-Patriots Super Bowl in Atlanta would be epically cool.

didn't we already play KC this year?
