Could this 'Charlie to the Pats' thing really happen? [Schefter: contacted by teams]

I think Ol' Charlie will be heading to the Chiefs next season. They have some talent (Cassel, Charles, Chambers, Bowe) and I don't think he wants to take on the pressures of being a head coach again for a while.

I can't see him back with the Patriots.

Charlie felt he was underpaid. Synovia is arguing how we should all define "underpaid". The fact of the matter is that it doesn't matter what we think or how much Charlie actually WAS paid. All that matters is that he was unhappy with that amount and considered himself underpaid.

Weis is in his fifth season as the team's offensive coordinator and makes $500,000 a year -- less than half of what top coordinators earn. His agent, Bob Lamonte, said in May he has been unable to come to terms on a contract extension with the Patriots.

ND, Weis are ready to talk - The Boston Globe

This was at a time when Snyder was really rocking the boat by paying the multiple former HC coordinators he hired for Joe Gibbs staff upwards of $2M. And the hot commodity coordinators were commanding high six and even seven figure salaries. I don't think Synovia was following football financials and organization that closely back then...

Charlie and RAC had no leverage because BB wanted them to move on for everyone's sake. Both were frustrated here professionally and Bill doesn't believe you do your best work under those circumstances. Bill was already losing some of his promising young guns who felt their advancement was blocked here.

Bill knows that teams that don't evolve on the field as well as on the sidelines get stale. Fans having never been there don't always grasp that. This team has evolved exponentially since 2004, whether that has led to Championships or not. A lot more than that goes into that equation. RAC and Charlie are dinosaurs in that respect. Better suited to being coordinators on a team that is still learning to walk before it runs. If either was hard up Bill would always find a spot for them here, the loyalty of the fraternity runs deep. But that's not the situation as either could probably write themselves a nice ticket as a coordinator for at least two or three teams today IF THEY CHOOSE TO. To date RAC has chosen to take a sabatical and get some health issues under control. Charlie may find in the aftermath of ND he should do the same. I'm sure on some level both still want that elusive brass ring. Not sure either was ever a legit candidate for one.

Pioli could use both in KC because Haley is in way over his head managing a full blown rebuild.

Thanks Mo for the citations. Facts can be troublesome things.
I wish almost* the best for Charlie & Romeo.
