How is selling your business before pandemic hit a bad thing? Wouldn't your business have suffered during these times?

Anyway, good luck and stay safe.
The man may change his mind once normally resumes.
I was so looking forward to a new life with a normal job
where I could go away for weekends with a new partner ..
Something I've never been able to do.

Right on cue:

According to a new report from The New York Times, President Donald Trump is becoming increasingly irritated at the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Dr. Anthony Fauci, over his “blunt approach” and statements that correct Trump’s claims at Covid-19 press conferences.

“Mr. Trump has become frustrated with Dr. Fauci’s blunt approach at the briefing lectern, which often contradicts things the president has just said, according to two people familiar with the dynamic,” The New York Times reported.

Trump has given Fauci more “leeway” rebuke him due to the fact that “Mr. Trump knows that Dr. Fauci is seen as credible with a large swath of the public and with journalists.”

But that leeway could have a limit. “The president has also resisted portraying the virus as an existential threat in a way that the public health experts have,” the Times writes.

Also, given the incubation period of the disease, keep in mind it could take a couple of weeks to see the effects of social distancing. Even if it works well you won't see any signs of it in the numbers for a while.

And what's going to happen is, 2-3 weeks from now, people are going to get restless, the initial intensity of the concern will die down, and folks will start going out again. Even if we do the social distancing thing properly (which I'm not convinced we are right now), we'll see waves of growth as concern wanes and people start intermingling more.

Why an all-out lockdown is necessary.

The scientists know this. They know human nature. That's why their focus is on just flattening the curve as much as possible, rather than driving it down, right away.

They really need to be the ones in charge.

I'm saying Biden can't do any campaigning...that's why he's MIA. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see him on TV for months.

He gave televised remarks earlier today.

Didn't see it...because Andrew Cuomo is constantly on. This is what I mean. People don't want to listen to him right now. The media coverage is with Trump and the governors.

Ah, well since you didn't see it, clearly that means it didn't happen.

When you say "people don't want to listen to him right now", you really mean, "I don't want to listen to him right now". And that's fine, but what you think/expect/want doesn't automatically become reality.

You claimed Biden wouldn't be getting airtime because of COVID, a mere 3 minutes later someone pointed out that he was on television this morning, and instead of admitting your assumption was wrong, you attempted to justify your initial incorrect assumption and denied reality because you "didn't see it".

You could have said something along the lines of, "Jeeze, yeah, I guess Biden is still finding a way to get some TV spots despite the mayhem, I missed the mark there".

This stuff is trivial and completely ancillary to the COVID discussion, but it really bothers me to see this level of disingenuity. Want to know why the political climate is so toxic, and why thoughtful discourse is out the window? Because we can't have a meaningful discussion about anything if basic truths and facts are contented or outright denied.

With the posts coming fast and furious I can't remember if this has been posted here before (if so, may even have been by me!) but I think it outlines the best option to both save lots of lives and get the economy restarted in a couple of months. However, it also is going to mean people cannot be abject morons (and probably implies force if they continue to be abject morons) and it requires that we massively increase the testing infrastructure.

That is an incredible must read article.

Wonder how many folks would agree with the President canning Dr. Fauci, one of the most reasonable and trustworthy voices in this crisis.
Gotta Crack down on people who are willing to speak the truth, rather than pick up the pom pons and kiss your backside. Damn....

What’s your beef with Tucker?
Lmao. I don't have a beef with Tucker. I don't watch or listen to anything he says. Just find it amusing that the President intently listens to what he says and then either tweets it or comes out the next day and parrots it. Then his supporters also get their talking points from the same source.

It's incredible that the Country policies are being inspired by a talking head. That there's an army of "Tuckers" running around all saying the same thing kinda like stepford wives or incels or whatever. Hilarious really.

Read the article QM posted. It's two weeks of hammer ( lock down) then the dance.

If we do this right we can get back to a new normal much quicker.

Just check the numbers on his approval rating and there’s your answer.

His supporters would be fine with it.
