I think the lack of early testing may create a lag between the effects of the mitigation and the increase in cases. IOW, the effects of social distancing measures may not be known for weeks after because of the continued increase in cases because of the delay in testing.

Lack of testing is still an issue in the US. Our numbers can't really be trusted, and until they can be, we have no indication when the curve is bending (or when, like China, we can return to a semblance of normalcy). Of course, now we're being told by the president that lockdown measures might be lifted to save the economy...

People crowding in DC to see the cherry blossoms... and in England, to see the cherry blossoms. DC shut down major bridges and roadways to curb this. It sucks, but there's always a tension in an open society about how much you can limit peoples' movements by decree or suggestion, and moving to threats of violence (by using the police or whatever) is qualitatively different. I know it wouldn't bother some of the less sophisticated authoritarians in this thread, but once the genie is out of that bottle, it's really hard to put it back in.

We drove through that part of town (DC) on Saturday, to see the blossoms, and people were out shoulder to shoulder, paying little attention to any social distancing guidelines. It was ridiculous. And the DC police that were on the scene were clearly frustrated.

The only saving grace is that the usual thousands of Japanese tourists coming for the CB festival aren't here.

No, I made the statement that by all indication, in 2020, voters chose Biden over Sanders. If there's even a plausible theory as to how the DNC could've orchestrated such an outcome, I'm all ears. Otherwise it's just baseless speculation.
