Thanks. The tweets and headlines are making it out to be that he views the two problems as mutually exclusive (which you've demonstrated he doesn't).
Yeah, we live in a soundbite society. It's frustrating.

There are a handful of solutions being bandied about to safely reintroduce people to the workforce sooner than later, but they all pretty much hinge on having a proper testing infrastructure in place, whether testing for the virus or for antibodies. Cuomo knows we're nowhere near ready with that so talking in depth about getting back to work soon is just idle chitchat.

Regards,
Chris

Clumsy math is right. 3 times as many people voted for Clinton or someone other than Trump. 2 out of 3, 650 batting average. A quarterback completing 65% of his passes bs one who completes 35%. That's a landslide. 65

That's not true.

You have a room of 100 people.
60% voted for Clinton
33.5% voted for Trump
6.5% voted for someone else.

60 people voted for Clinton
33-34 people voted for Trump
6-7 people voted for someone else.

60 is not 3x greater than 33-34.
66-67 is not 3x greater than 33-34.

To me it's not about lifting social distancing as much as everyone practicing it without a shelter-in-place approach. First, if you have symptoms, stay home. Stores can be open, but p
eople need to wear gloves when they go in.
Why can't a construction crew work on a new house, it should be pretty straightforward for them to keep their distance from each other, and disallow anyone who has symptoms. Offices and other busy workplaces can re-configure to provide more spacing, or go to 2 shifts to accomplish it, etc. Even restaurants could maybe open if tables were spread out, though that's trickier. Bars - no, cause the whole premise is face to face conversing. If every business and every person would practice social distancing, society could resume.

More good news on this front: in short order, employers will be able to have quick turnaround tests, and masks, for employees who return to work. Every workplace can stay on guard regarding potentially infected employees.

Read this today from ZH and thought it was pretty insightful:

At some point, the country is going to have to open up the supply chains and take the risks to let the market work to provide food — or people will engage in panic buying, hoarding and using any means to get what they need for themselves and their families.
The supply chains to grow, move, and sell food aren't closed so they don't need to be "opened up".

Cause their is no bloat in government agencies?

Haters gonna hate, enjoy your TDS.

So the the bloat is gone? spending is down?

BTW, it's 'Because there' not 'Cause their' ...that wasn't a typo

Being reported Pelosi folded. To try and pass the Senate bill by unanimous consent.

It's happening in the states regardless of what Trump does. Boston is a ghost town.

That's not martial law...martial law is the military basically locking the country down. You will see the national guard and army standing outside your home making sure that you don't leave. And if you do leave you'll get arrested.

This isn’t the whole documentary but I believe it was a BBC production.

Ultimately England and Churchill are to blame for the conflict between India and Pakistan that has been going on for 60+ years.

I know.....based on when this issue first surfaced, the materials to get this done should have already been in place.

you could say that leadership regarding this issue was lacking

People like my father and I would have to continue living the way we are now. It wouldn’t change anything for us.

If you read The NY Times article, letting healthy & young return to normal life can kill off this virus. Doing what we’re doing won’t and it will crash our nation.

we can’t social distance for a year or more...thats just not an option
Exceedingly false dichotomy.

We can try a hard lockdown for 3-6 weeks to get the rate (hopefully) way way down and then attempt the South Korea massive testing, tracing, quarantining approach. If that turns out not to work, then you can re-evaluate then.

The administration doesn't want that, though. They want to give up a week from now in the hopes of goosing the market enough to get Trump re-elected, regardless of how many people die.

And that won't work either because it won't be "well, the economy will be roughly like it was, except for some useless old people who are either dead or are holed up at home". When you get to the doubling points where you go from 5% to 10% of the country infected at once and then from 10% to 20% infected at once (and god forbid when when you go from 20% to 40% infected at once) the economy will collapse for sure because there won't be enough people to run even essential things for several weeks.

... grandson has been out for over a week. I am angry about the fear porn being pushed on kids. my wife caught him in tears the other day, he was worried that he could die from the virus. We had to explain who was at risk and who was not at risk. I wish the media were more responsible.
My wife and Kids were born in Korea and are frequently confused for being Chinese, no harassment for my family members.
Thats incredibly self centered of you, I am shocked.

We shouldnt be reporting facts on the virus because it makes your grandson cry and you now need to comfort him. However coronavirus is totally cool because your relatives havent gotten any flack from it. ****ing rich.

Yeah, it's just a little bit more money...no big deal. We can always print more, right?

Are you saying have a choice?

Anyway, probably should have thought about about the future instead of spending $2-3T on that tax cut/giveaway.

Driving to work today from downtown Boston I saw a ton of people on the expressway and 128. Much busier than it has been for the past week, actually.

sorry got caught up in the 1/3 ratio for Trump but 2/3 voted for someone other than Trump. My point stands.

This could be a possibility...the problem is if you lock down the country you'll have massive unemployment. People won't have money to pay their rent, food, etc. I think this is what Trump is trying to avoid.
I thought you had to live in Fantasy (is)land to shutdown the entire country.

Make up your mind Herve.
