It's still race baiting. It's just not helpful.

It's nothing. At best it's nationalist bullcrap meant to rile up some anti-Chinese sentiment, but what else is new? The real truth is it's something that Pompeo started and Trump's glommed onto because people are wringing their hands about it so he'll keep repeating it over and over. This is the way this guy's brain works. He gets something stuck in there, often completely fictitious, and just keeps saying it, and the media keeps tripping over their shoelaces trying to figure it out so there's this feedback loop between him and the media.

He's not sophisticated, but for whatever reason people want to believe he's got some ulterior motive when he says the things he says. This sort of trolling lets him off the hook for everything he does poorly, which is to say more or less everything other than trolling. He is, however, a master troll, and the media loves/hates him for it.

Which makes it all the more monumentally stupid to label the virus in such a way.

no it doesn’t. They are spreading propaganda and lies. The virus went from a bat to a pangolin to a human in China.

Now calling it an Asian virus would be stupid.

It was politically motivated.

Questioning is appropriateness, racial undertone meaning and pettiness is reasonable.

I'd rather him call out the Chinese Government in that context but whatever.

If your leg is cut off, would you wait years to say it's a permanent disability?
Recovery of lung function after Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome is typically quite good.

You are being silly.

Depending on the extent and type of damage lung function can regenerate to maximum capacity.

Human appendages are not ****ing salamander tails

Saying something is permanent after a few weeks is premature, if not ludicrous
Seems scarring to lung tissue is permanent regardless of the cause.

Lung scarring and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis

Lung scars can result from illness or medical treatment, and they are permanent.

Small scars may not cause noticeable symptoms, but extensive scarring can make it hard for a person to breathe, as it can affect the transfer of oxygen into the bloodstream. As a result, the brain and other organs may not receive the oxygen that they need.

Lungs don't really heal that well. There's a little you can do but most damage is permanent. It's why you shouldn't smoke.

Knowing that the virus originated in China (for reasons that have nothing to do with nationality nor race) is about as useful as knowing that the sky is blue when it comes to containment and treatment at this point. It solves nothing. Zero.

The fact that the Chinese government mismanaged and actively spread false information about COVID is an entirely different discussion.

Arguing that COVID shouldn't be called the "Chinese" virus is not the equivalent to condoning the actions of the Chinese government. And as others have pointed out, there is an unsettlingly large contingent of people who will latch onto "Chinese" virus and channel sh*tty bigotry towards Asian people.

You can argue that the bigots are the ones who are wrong, and not the people saying "Chinese" virus, but if you knew your language (whether intended or not) could have harmful consequences, might you change the way you speak, considering the fact that there's no inherent value in the language you're using?

There are much more effective ways to address the wrongdoing by the Chinese government without using a blanket label of "Chinese Virus".

Wholeheartedly agree with every word.

Chinese ain’t a race pal
China is 92% Haan Chinese. Let's not act like there's no ethnic basis whenever using the term "Chinese".

To some degree, it's worth knowing that China was the primary source of the virus, but continuously labeling it "The Chinese Virus" is becoming a corny attempt at being edgy.

Another fact...more mens compared to womens are impacted...

Patients were tested a few months after recovering is what I heard.

I’ll continue to call it corona virus or COVID 19. But if trump wants to call it Chinese virus or coronavirus, no complaints here

I just don’t understand why people are spending time and getting upset on what the virus is named. That goes for both sides of the debate. It’s stupid, and a waste of energy.
Because they really aren't upset for the most part. Its a convenient and an opportunity to play politics. Thats the goal

I shouldn't smoke??? Why thank you Primetime for that savvy, important announcement...who'd a guessed?

Bordered by China and South Korea, two early victims of coronavirus, Kim Jong Un’s North Korea claims it has evaded the pandemic with no cases of infection.

welp, no that I've gotten the smoking news, I'm booking a flight to N.K. where I'll be safe and well taken care of. Whew...that was close!

The first case was barely 3 months ago
I'm just telling you what I heard from a Dr. on TV. I haven't independently confirmed his statement.
