Is this the real life or is he just trolling us?

This off season has been gold, long as we don't click on his articles I say it's okay to laugh at him .

I imagine the CHB would melt in the rain.

Though not sure what it's getting at here? Because the press conference was held in the rain it's trying to impose limits on coverage? I'm sure BB was just honoring his NFL outlined duty to hold press conferences.

Hahahahahahaha, holding the press conference in the rain, too funny!

"No shortcuts to being in shape, no shortcuts to being mentally tough...."

On a more serious note, it's really quite pathetic, petty and sad(!) that the Red Sox do this. All the other Boston teams support each other. Wish Kraft had snubb'd the Sox's invite to Fenway, but I guess that wouldn't be nice to do to the fans.

It's so cute that Shaughnessy thinks he's some kind of bastion of free speech and champion of the fourth estate. It's like... come on man, even leaving aside how much of a deliberate piece of **** you are, you cover local sports for a pretty big media market in the US. In the world of journalism he's small potatoes.

A little bit of perspective would go a long way with these guys. I think spending decades i nthe Boston sports bubble has given them a weirdly inflated view of their own importance. At the end of the day they're a bunch of guys that devoted their lives to breathlessly analyzing every twitch and off-hand statement made by other guys who play sports for a living. It would be hard for me to come up with a less important job description if I tried.

"Damn... I just coughed up a Shaughnessy."

Lmao gif king does it again. You go to games bud? Me and Patsboy are hoping to meet some of the fellas at a game this season.

I have not been in years, and now live on Long Guyland... was thinking about going to one this year...

...maybe in the Meadowlands. Bwahahahaha!!!

My dad, God rest his soul, and God help him, went out of his way to read Shanks. And my dad loved the Sox thru thick and thin.

In fact, when we went to Game 1 of the 2004 WS, he said at one point, "There's Shaughnessy... I gotta go and get a photo of him". Now, reading him is one thing. But LOOKING at him...

Shank is typical of the entitlement felt by the Old Media, who believe that the subjects they cover owe them a living. Another example of this is Vic Carucci, who during his usual Saturday afternoon Press Coverage gig on Sirius NFL Radio ragged on Bill for not showing up for the coaches' breakfast on the last day of the spring meeting, before the draft. I was on the road and wanted to call the show so I could verbally rape him, but a couple of outstanding Pats fans had already beat me to him by the time a phone line opened.

Feck Shank; feck Carucci; and feck the Old Media.

I cringe every time this fool goes on a national media radio/tv show to talk about the Pats. It's like, htf is he going to give the pulse of Pats nation in a accurate, non biased description?

Doom and gloom curse is over dude. The moment the Sox broke the 86 year curse he became irrelevant.

Nice post. But you know the first thing that came into my mind after I read his tweet was, if I were Giardi, Reiss, Kyed Curran or any of the other dozen or so guys who cover the Pats on a regular basis; the first thing I'd do the next time I saw Shank, would be to SMACK him in the mouth.

This tweet wasn't just another shot at the Pats, it was a raging INSULT to the rest of his OWN colleagues. If I were any of them I wouldn't take it lightly. In reality Shank, like Felger have created the shtick that THEY are the only ones the public can go to for the "truth". Everyone else is just a fanboy. But it truth it really is only a shtick and by now is so obvious it has become almost laughable. To the point where it is getting hard to even get pissed about any of the crap he writes or says.

"Ben, the only reason I can think of why Dan Shaughnessy isn't here is that he is afraid he will melt if he gets wet."
