Charles Clay signs Bills offer sheet

Miami would have ended up paying him less, if they franchised him. The Transition tag is almost worthless and the price to sign a Franchised player is too high (2 1st round picks).

I liked Clay coming out of college, and thought that the Pats might take a run at him. But I figured his price tag would become too high. He is a good player, but again, neither the Jets nor the Bills have a QB!

A lot depends on that Bills offensive line

Cassel + good O-line = Pretty good QB
Cassel + bad O-line = Train wreck

Also, if Bowles can just keep Fitzpicksix reigned in, he could have something in NY

Offensive 'skill' positions:

Cassel

McCoy/Jackson

Clay

Watkins/Woods/Harvin

As usual RR is going with a top heavy roster and hoping the injury bug doesn't bite him in the ass.

Luckily it worked for the first couple seasons in NYJ, but inevitably eventually imploded. More so, it backfired on RR because I truly think he thought he'd be fired early and not have to coach out the remainder of his contract (and his contract messes) once average NFL injuries hit and the cap spanked him as well.

Problem for NE, RR's BUF will be a tough out if they stay healthy.

Not sure if the GM is part of this new plan and attached exit strategy, but the owner probably won't be too happy with them in a few years. But maybe he's just looking for a big 2 year splash to give the fans something to root for.

Hopefully ownership won't let RR skip off into the sunset to rinse and repeat after this star goes supernova.

I heard that they plan to change their name in the near future
Buffalo Saints

Has to be one of the most ludicrous signings ever. 24m for 2 years? And then he holds out of retires. He's not taking a huge cut in pay.

Cassel is not a good QB unless good is defined as below average.

If he was Cassel would not be on his 4th team. He needs to rely heavily on a running game to mask his deficiencies in the passing game.

Cassel is not that accurate. Does not possess a rocket arm and is a very tentative decision maker. He is prone to hold on to the ball too long which is why he has been a turnover machine.

Sure, Cassel can manage an offense and make a play here or there. Maybe even win a big game if everything lines up just right. Today, Cassel is the 4th ranked QB in the AFCE.

Cassel's history, both in N.E. (2008) and K.C. (2010), says you're wrong.

If FA has taught you people anything it should be that @Deus Irae loves pumping the tires of AFC East teams other than the Pats when he can.

I have him blocked so i haven't seen a thing..sure it's pretty funny

Cassel is horrific.

To repeat:

A lot depends on that Bills offensive line

Cassel + good O-line = Pretty good QB
Cassel + bad O-line = Train wreck

Patriots fans have seen this for themselves, so pretending his history is otherwise is just rank silliness. Now, maybe he's too badly damaged moving forward after years of ****ty OL play, but that's his M.O.

Still love how much Buff is paying this average TE at best

Miami has 5 days to match.

Looks like Rex is simply going to add highly skilled players who can get open no matter who the QB is tossing them balls.

https://twitter.com/...973626198183937 The #Bills' offer to Clay is for 5 yrs and $38 million. More than $20 million guaranteed.

Buffalo's offer to Clay includes $24.5m over the first two years and a $10m roster bonus at the start of next league year. Big numbers.

Smart of Bills to inflate Clay's 2016 cap number. Suh's cap charge for '16 is $28.6 million. And Tannehill's '16 option costs $16.2 million.
They overpaid for Clay big time.

No, you're wrong.

Worst Qb in the AFCE.
I don't know if you are being sarcastic here but seriously, he just has to be better than ej Manuel

It's Triumph, so there's that whole grain of salt thing...

Not looking at the financial impact, overpaying or not, the Bills have now a strong roster that is in the playoff picture for sure. I just don't get the Cassel move.
