Celtics trade Isaiah Thomas, Brooklyn 2018 pick & players for Kyrie Irving

What if some other team offered a better package and Cleveland is having second thoughts and using the hip issue as an escuse ? A deal is a deal.

I agree, Thomas hip injury was common knowledge and even though I think it's a good deal for both sides I would tell Cleveland to pound sand if they want more. They can take Irvingback and lose the Brooklyn pick.

I've had a hip labral tear for a couple of years. It is largely healed now, but will (from what I can tell from the MRI's) never fully heal on its own. I'm at about 95% and that's probably as good as it gets at my age.

I got as many different opinions on what to do as doctors I went to. The biggest difference in viewpoint is about the ROI on surgery. I decided not to do it, but instead just keep exercising and stretching etc. and it seems to be paying off. One doc told me however that my odds of needing a hip replacement in a decade or two go up because I chose this route.

But none of the docs, not a single one, had full certainty about their opinion. There were a lot of shoulder shrugs that went along with the opinions. And these are seasoned docs with decades of experience, including one who serves DC's pro athletes.

It is complete ********.
Personnel leaders do deals based on trust.
I'm 100% confident Danny was transparent.
While young and inexperienced as a GM, I don't think this is on Koby Altman.
This "renegotiation" is all Dan Gilbert. I bet he found out IT wouldnt be ready until around Thanksgiving or XMas and threw a classic petulent owner, hissy fit. He's such a ****head
I expect this to go to Wyc's level and ultimately to Silver's.
It'll get resolved. Irving will be in green eventually.
Yeah, that's a good read. Gilbert is a head case. This has all the signs of him inserting himself into the situation. Hopefully we can all get past it.

Strangely enough, I was listening to a podcast that was discussing decision making ( Hidden Brain ) that made me think of this thread. While you think having a high draft pick to spend would make us happier because it represents so many possibilities, it described how research shows we are less happy when we have a big decision to make ( what should we do with the high draft pick? ) and get happier once the decision is made ( humans jump into convincing themselves they made the right choice i.e. rationalization almost immediately, and then totally discount the other alternatives ) especially if that decision is irreversible ( but this one isn't, so we're seeing all these alternatives return, which freaks us out ).

It fortifies the view that Gilbert is a head case. He should be glad the big decisions are made ( IT will fill in for Kyrie for at least a season, the BKY pick will give them something to start the rebuild with once LeBron leaves ) but instead he prefers the turmoil.

Yep.

Plus it wouldnt surprise me that this is also a way of Gilbert tweaking Irving for forcing a trade. Just a juvenile, spiteful ****ty thing to do.

Kinda makes me think back to when LBJ was a FA. We aren't sure MIA tampered but Gilbert made it known he was going to fight that fight and go down with guns blazing. This also might be the very same behavior he is exuding.

He can't stand to lose or other dictating the situation. Needs to have control and refuses to lose without guns blazing because his ego is the size of Jupiter

Classless, ignorant fan base. Always have been. Always will be.
"The Patriots want no part of the Browns", that part blew me away. The Patriots are coming off a Super Bowl win last year and are as good or better this year. The Browns are coming off a 1-15 record (worst in franchise history) and haven't won a Super Bowl since.. oh, never.

Cleveland not having a hockey team is depriving this clown of a devastating comeback.

The very same fan base that lobbied a degenerate gambler of an owner to chase the greatest coach of all time out of town.

Morons

Cleveland has 1 Championship is the past 50 years. We have 10 this century alone (i.e. the past 16 years)

When the Patriots play the Browns (not that they will be doing so anytime this season), I doubt the players are terribly worried about how the Cavaliers whupping the Celtics will affect them.

"Hi, I live in a place called "Mistake By The Lake" and you people in Boston suck and Boston sucks because I KNOW things...."

Yeah, I don't get how people argue that Ainge "blew it" by not trading for George. Since he declared that he wants to play for LAL after next year, he became essentially worthless.
You've also got the fact that George isn't a transcendent talent and has never been a notable clutch performer. Giving up major assets for a player as such isn't good business.

I would have taken George over Hayward but only if he could be signed long term
