So I guess this turned out to be a bunch of nonsense

My theory at the time was they were trying to put other teams off/lower his price.

Get teams thinking if he can't get motivated to put in full effort for the Patriots why would he anywhere else.

He did bring that swagger. Up in your face guy who can trash talk now and then. Need someone like that. He wasn't a shut down guy but he can play man which could then in turn send more blitzes. I just hope he stays healthy

Yeah health is an issue unfortunately, I haven't seen his contract structure but hopefully he only sees all that $$ if he stays on the field a certain # of games. Then if Adroon Wilson brings a similar presense even better.

Talib's deal is for 5.0 million of which 4.5 mil. is guaranteed ($3 million signing bonus + 1.5 mil in salary. Only per game roster bonuses are not guarnateed. In addition there is a 500,000 bonus for Pro Bowl.

Now Talib made the choice for a 1 year deal when BB offered him a choice of a 1 yr and a 5 yr.

Personally, given the depressed CB market, I am baffled why BB did not go after Sean Smith who signed for 3 yrs 15.5 million w/ the Chiefs. Here is what Dorsey, GM of Chiefs told Peter King:
