Cam working on rebuilding his throwing fundamentals

The last two videos on Cam’s IG, yikes. Talk about judging and condemning people. He was all over the place. Stop

I consider those marketing videos. Gives me the same feeling as watching a political ad with some guy in a suit feeding poor children in the ghetto.

I think y’all are making a lot of his struggles. I feel like anybody else gets a previously unheard of disease (I don’t care how many other ppl got it), inherits the supposedly most complicated system in the league (even if they happened to run the ball more don’t pretend you know what’s going on behind the scenes), and is first time on a team with the most opt outs...... i.e. some captain America looking dude... he’d struggle heavily man. Stuff like this is why Boston has that... reputation that it does. He stands perpendicular to the throw, doesn’t necessarily step into it, looks nervous, and had a throwing arm injury. I’m confident he’ll be 150% of last season at least. Also TB12 had his BrAnD... his wife dissing the team, his no-shows, his yelling at OCs and receivers - he was just like the tattooed wrs with gold teeth in their mouths - diva. Had to let that one out. Tired of folks killing the guy, not giving the BOTD. He deserves the respect a 15-1 QB would command... before they let his team fall apart mind you.

Last year, in NE, he was not a 15-1 QB. He was 15-1 in 2015. Millennials are not looked at as the next big thing now, as they still were in 2015; pity the youngest millennials because now if you're not gen z you're old. We won't discuss the political landscape because the board has rules. Did you know who Daveed Diggs was in 2015? I did not. I do now.

A lot of guys who played well in 2015 are out of the league, and we needn't talk about newton's chances of playing in NE in 2016, no matter how great his 2015 was. He had a GREAT 2015. He didn't have a GREAT, or a GOOD, 2020. It seems likely that he will play more like 2020 than 2015. I mean, that's why they play the games, we don't know. But trying to figure out who's the QB, that's part of why they have training camp.

Most of your post was fine, and I agree with you about Boston's rep and frankly, this particular board, to my admittedly biased eye, has from time to time shown its sentiments to be close to the scary folks.

But on the subject of Cam? Don't come in here talking about how our 7-9, missing-the-playoffs, 8-TD-throwing, 12-INT-throwing QB is not getting the respect he earned with the 2015 Carolina Panthers. I was rooting for him to make us all say "Tom who?" But as far as I'm concerned, on the metric of 8 TDs/12 INTs, apply your 150% improvement on both sides of that ledger and you just get 12 TD throws and 8 INTs, which is scraping the bottom margin of adequacy, IF you add in his running game.

People don't get to say "I deserve respect for 2015" in New England in 2021. Little hint as to what respect from the past you're entitled to: You barely get respect for your 2020 in 2021 in New England.

And as for using a poor receiving corps as your excuse, tell me where else Reche Caldwell got to be a number 1.

Now all that said, I hope that by opening day, Cam looks to the coaching staff like he's about to have 2015 again, and I hope they're right. I hope Mac Jones sits on the bench, learns, and enjoys a Jimmy G-style participation trophy super bowl ring, because Cam is suddenly Superman again. But the job's Cam '21's to lose, not Cam 2015's right.

Mac's supposed to earn it. We don't actually know whose stock, if anybody's, is rising or falling. My only thing is, don't say Cam's not getting a fair shake. When a guy can't throw double digit TDs in the modern NFL you don't get to go there. He sucked. It's on him not to suck this year.

Also, right now, here's my feeling about Newton: If I were a physicist I would not go to international conferences where they express force in Newtons because that would just remind me. Some Newtons who had better TD-INT numbers than Cam last year:

Sir Isaac Newton
Juice Newton
The whole town of Newton
Fig Newtons
Newton, the 2017 Indian film
Newton "Newt" Gingrich
Alan Newton, the cyclist
Alan Newton, the cricketer
Arthur Newton, the cricketer
Huey Newton
Olivia Newton John

Thanks Wikipedia.

Yes, I'm sure Cam Newton will heed the concerns of AfaPats on PatsFans.com and "stop".

i think newton needs to keep it real and explain why he was stealing computers at Florida? Has he made any effort to make restitution for that?

He was arrested, criminally charged, and has publicly apologized.

Other than continuing to loudly and proudly tell the world that you hate Cam Newton for whatever reason, what do you gain from repeatedly bringing up theft by a 19 year-old college kid that occurred over 10 years ago, and for which he was arrested, criminally charged, and has publicly apologized for?

Are you Cam, or something? Even as a self-defense post, that's a terrible take.

'Touch' is something that is very difficult (and perhaps impossible) to learn once you make it to the NFL. QBs tend to have an instinct for what makes a catchable ball. Even with rebuilt mechanics, I'm not sure he has that instinct.

This isn't something you can get on the guy's back about, either. It's just something a QB has, or he doesn't. As much as I loved Drew, he didn't show it nearly as well as other strong armed guys like Favre and Marino. And definitely not as well as Brady.

What’s terrible? Be specific. And I’m a fan of the team. He’s our QB. 15-1 = ceiling. Period. Y’all wanted Jimmy so bad to be one of the good ole boys what’s his ceiling? What’s the cost there? Do you think he won’t improve? Many variables in ‘20. Belichick seems to like him.

That 15-1 season was one of the biggest flukes in NFL history. He was -never- as good as he was made out to be on the basis of that season, witness his turtle job in the SB and the fact that he's only ever broken 90 in quarter back rating twice in his entire career.

Mockery-K. So belichick spent crazy money upgrading the team, why did he get Cam to begin with? He knew we’d suck last year too, he’s got a few years left. Remember “nobody’s above the team/patriot way” bs? Why is bill just not wiping his hands? What makes cam special if his stats reveal him to be puuuure trash? Why did the leagues greatest coach get him to begin with? You guys act like I’m saying he’s excellent. Average out the 15-1 season with the rest of the crap... I say with last years team minus the Covid/etc.... in ‘21 we go 10/11 wins this year man. That’s not unrealistic.

also nobody’s disputed the Brady’s a diva thing. Remember AB being the devil cause of the civil case? He was a diva. Remember Jimmy’s weird friendships? Remember Edlemans tv show? Remember “oh gronks just bein gronk”? They umm... settled, and dude has a ring (ab). So. Double standards brah. It’s like y’all can’t wait for cam to slip up personally.

main point... he ain’t the goat.. but he’s better than you guys make him out to be. Nuance in the assessment of his value to the team, the lack of which being rooted in some problematic stuff.

Cam sucked during the second half of last season. He just plain sucked. No amount of ball washing will fix that. That was what we are all left with, him completely sucking. Whether or not he is a good/great man, he was awful last season. There are lots of excuses/reasons why he played as poorly as he did, and I think it is extremely fair to give him the benefit of the doubt and hope he will be much better than he was last year. But.... it is all on him, blaming any fan for being extremely skeptical of his abilities going forward is sort of a fool's mission.

15-1 was an outlier year. I respect that year. It was a great year but please don't use that to draw some kind of equivalence to Brady's 20 year career credentials. He's earned a little benefit of a doubt when calling out coaches. Look it. I hope Cam bounces back this year. He's working hard to rejuvenate it. That's what deserves a lot of repect. If he wasnt trying so hard then I'd be all over him too. People just have to know the difference between recognizing legitimate criticism of someone or an outright demeaning them.

The turtle job/ 1/2 azz attempt at going for the fumble in the SB I don't think is representative of Cam the player. He's a tough SOB. He just had a bad game.

As far as being an elite QB? Absolutely not. In 2015 he had a great year and deserved the recognition.

There is no doubt he is on a short leash this year- especially if we buy into the reports of Mac already having a decent grasp of the offense.
