Cam expected to start on MNF

Looks like my TV boycott will extend into a second week. After the Rams debacle, I vowed never to watch another game with Cam running the offense...just as I vowed many years ago to never drop a copy of Encyclopedia Britannica on my nuts intentionally.

I listened to some of the game in the car while running errands. It was pretty amusing listening to Zo hammer Cam’s performance. At the end of the game, he said “Who does this guy have pictures of?” Not wasting 3 hours on my couch at home ended up being a great decision.

as long as he won't be back next year, he can start, at least it has some positive aspects with the L with Cam as starter we might get even better draft spot, so BB can trade down for 2 seconds and get two SS/CB, yeah

Bingo! We've got Bingo!

This is the reason BB is playing Cam Monday Night. He's doing him a solid. That's all.
In other words.....Cam first / team second.

I wonder if Bill is going the extra mile to make sure every player on his woeful 6-8 team earns their incentives or just the god-awful one year shell of a QB with no future

With Cam:

- no TDs the last 2 games
- has thrown 5 TDs the entire year
- has a passer rating of 79
- has a 1:2 TD to int ratio
- hasn’t thrown for over 210 yds in his last 4 games

Even if Stidham could be this bad, which is nearly impossible, let’s at least find out.
Stidham may or may not be this bad but the Pats must find another QB regardless. Stid clearly isn’t the answer.

For the first time I am seriously concerned Belichick has lost it.
No. Benching Cam for Stidham would be a disaster PR wise going forward.

Belichick mistakenly hitched his team’s season to Cam once he was named the starter. A decision he will look back on with regret.

Most of us predicted this in the who will start poll (Stidham should start but Cam will Start), although I groaned like almost everyone else when I saw the headline yesterday. Playing time incentives (the "if he doesn't play next year" info was helpful); You don't want Stid's first start to be MNF with an unreliable OL against a powerhouse and a pro bowl db; Get feet wet with the Jets potentially with Edelman (or potentially JE is playing this week and BB wants to see him with Cam again) for confidence leading to next year (or if he loses, he definitely sucks).

After the game on MNF: "Go ahead ask me again who the QB is going to be next week. So help me if you ask me one more time Cam is going out there just to spite you knuckleheads."

Probably.

The seaon's over. You could make the case that it was over the second the lost to the Rams. Players know it. BB knows it. He's trying to get the man paid which resonates in the locker room in a good way. I think they should play Stid the last two games. They won't. It is what it is.

Honestly can you think of a player in the bb era who has started 12+ games and been worse?
I was going to suggest Marshal Newhouse but he only started 9 games at LT in 2019
Ochostinko started only 3

Listing reasons why Cam isn’t the answer doesn’t make Stidham the answer. Stidham has yet to go on a field and have a better performance than Cam. The Chargers game was his only good game. He threw three pass attempts in a game we were already shutting the opposing team and Cam scored 3 TD’s.

The other misconceptions is that Belichick needs to find out something he already knows. After two off seasons, practicing with him every week, constantly evaluating him, putting him in pre season games, and and giving him love game time multiple times.... coaches know what kinda player you are. There’s nothing to find out for him.

I don’t get why we wouldn’t at least give Stidham a full week to prepare as the starter and see if he is even worth keeping on the roster next year. I’d assume at this point they don’t believe he has any shot but I’d think it would be a good chance to evaluate if he can even be a capable backup.

this is simply bill the coach doing Newton a solid. coach Bill knows the NFL is a league of idiots. if Newton goes out Monday night and throws up 17-25-200 and runs for 50 yards, has a running TD and maybe a throws for 1 and doesn't throw a pick vs buffalo and then puts up similar mistake free #s vs NYJ then bill has held up his end of the bargain. then someone will give Newton a contract for decent $.
there has to be something else at play here bc Newton has played, what, 13 games....and he's been below NFL quality in more than half of those (and that's probably being generous).
but I sometimes wonder if maybe Skippy "opened up" the offense more perhaps Newton might've had more success...perhaps if they didn't run the ball 70% of the time inside the 20 maybe they'd have more touchdowns, points, and another win or 2...

I'm going with the theory that Bill does not think Stidham has earned the QB1 job.

Earned means a lot of things.

There might be a little respect being thrown Cam's way. I agree with that.

I wasn’t getting my hopes up too high for cam getting benched. But now im starting to get genuinely concerned that he’ll be back next year as the starter

Cam expected to start Monday night.

In a related story, Patriots expected to only score 3 points in first half.

Because, as a rule, you can't "claim" players off practice squads involuntarily; they have to want to come to your team. [The only exception is if a team has zero available QBs.]
So you think Rosen would stay on Miami’s practice squad instead of signing a contract to be in the 53 nan roster of the QBtarded patriots? Why?

Huh? PR? What are you talking about? The guy sucks. How could benching him be a disaster?
