By the numbers: Patricia's offense downright offensive

I'm sorry to say that I have to agree with you, Tune. The creativity of play design, efficiency of execution and speed of adaptation to defenses last year were far better, even though this year the offense has been helped by the growth of Stevenson, the excellence of Meyers and the ability of Parker to make long, downfield catches. Of course, in the end, this is BB's team and his offense, but that's another question.

Even last year the use of Smith and Henry was a head-scratcher. Now it's just a bad joke.

This isn't complicated:

Bill made the obvious and serious mistake of hiring an unqualified man as OC (f the terminology). This OC has failed by any reasonable measure. Bill now needs to put things right, which can only be accomplished by getting rid of the failed OC, and, yes, Bill's rep really should take a hit: Krafts take notice.

As to the silly colloquy over whether the mess is Bill's or Matt's fault, the answer is, "Yes."

Yeah

And the way Bill is going to handle things for 2023 is gonna be decisive too how I see this team, bc the blueprint to success in this league is:

You build a team with your QB under a rookie contract, get him weapons or solidify the gameplan around him before his extension, when you hope you have found the right guy

Right now, we can't evaluate antyhing properly bc the gameplan is dubious, our QB is just now improving - 11 weeks into the season - but still with flaws in what has been, throughtout the history of BB's coaching, the most important aspect of his team: Situational Football

2022 is growth, but 2023 we have to be solid enough to contend for Playoffs, otherwise....

Nothing to do with your QB throwing more interceptions than TDs 10 weeks into the season. No, that can't be it at all

Of course not, because quarterbacks operate in a vacuum, completely independent of football being a team game. Coaching, system/scheme continuity, play calling, offensive line performance, coordination/timing with receivers, etc., etc. have nothing to do with it.

I am a homer, no doubt, like many here

I support BB without question. Does not mean I cannot criticize him when it's called for, like many here. When we do critique or criticize him and the teams performance it's kinda B's to drop the triggered bomb... That ain't nothing but trolling...

BB said at the beginning of the season, if it doesn't work out blame him. In this instance I am blaming him. I believe it if we had a quality OC, not one learning on the job, this team would be 9-2 or 8-3... But we don't and we aren't... And I've said this early and often we need an o line coach... It's untenable that Patricia is splitting time between the two...

The seasons results so far squarely fall on BB shoulders. It's up to him to make the necessary changes after the season to take advantage of the talent this team has... The coaching staff needs to be expanded, especially on offense... More attention to detail is needed to eliminate all these stupid drive killing penalties we see in every game...

I don't blame MP for his failings this year... I do blame BB... I also expect him to look at the short comings this season has exposed and correct them... I will be disappointed if he doesn't

I didn't know heaving the ball in the air off your back foot in a blind panic with 0 mechanics was everyone else's fault.

hmm, might be that Mac was forced to go downfield earlier this year bc the playcalling was as such?
perhaps he would perform better if FatMat would start dialing easy/fast lay-offs on short routes that does not require a ****ty and banged up Oline to pass protect for 5 sec until someone gets open downfield?

Mac is not performing on a high level this year, but neither would any other QB behind this OL and with that play calling, perhaps Mahomes or Rodgers would do well by freelancing around buying time and waiting for any reciever to get open

Sometimes interceptions are the fault of others and all QBs throw bad picks, especially young ones -- INCLUDING your binky Bailey Zappe. Mac has regressed this season through little fault of his own but you refuse to believe that.

I just want to point out that username changes are permitted, especially if you're clearly not a fan of the player in your username. Just submit the request and I'll be happy to push it through for you

Interesting hypothesis, we have a rookie on the team that still has a better TD to INT ratio than Mac and he hasn't played in 5 games

I'm waiting until the end of the season to make that call.

Im just a counter point balance to the people who think the person throwing the ball has 0 accountability to how they play. It's very Zack Wilson of you

This OC has failed by any reasonable measure.
And it’s unique to have an unproven OC also handle the time-consuming chores of coaching the offensive line. That’s intensive work right there.

One of the worst mistakes of Belichick’s tenure here.

He will almost certainly make changes in the offseason in the Patriots coaching ranks. Both adding and changing. I believe we have the fewest number if coaches in the league.

Bill is a stubborn guy (even though he claims not to be) with job security. I don't think we'll see a lot of changes coming.

Just stop this nonsense. I'm the first to point out Mac remains a work in progress, growing pains are expected and OF COURSE he has made some bad mistakes squarely on his shoulders. But the biggest reason he hasn't made the anticipated "sophomore leap" from his promising rookie season lies with coaching.

I'm waiting until the end of the season to make that call.

Maybe in the meantime you can do what your screen name suggests and root for the guy to do well.

Our best offensive output last week. Hope we build off of it going forward.
Rarely mentioned...
Minnesota currently has the worst (#32 ranked) 'passing yds against' defense in the NFL and the 2nd worst "total yards against" defense.

Pats Offense vs Minn in Red zone
3 yd rush
-7 yd rush
5 yd pass
FG

0 yd sack
13 yd pass (only red zone 1st down vs Minn)
0 yd spike
0 yd Inc
FG

0 yd Inc
1 yd rush
0 yd Inc
FG

NE did not enter Red Zone in final 21 mins 43 secs vs 2nd worst 'total yds against' defense in NFL
Shame NE couldn't build off the first 38 mins 17 secs

Note: Mac is currently on pace for 10.5 passing TD passes this season (2.5 better than Cam in '20 though Cam had 12 rushing TDs vs Mac's 1)
