Sure, us average football fans have a memory span of exactly one week. However, I'll remind everyone of:
- The mighty mile high monsters were nearly unbeatable last year just a few weeks prior to the Patriots game, remember?
- Many teams have been 'unstoppable' (including the Patriots) during the season only to eventually come down to earth one Sunday, remember?
- Seattle was the best team in football a few weeks ago, remember? Now they are surrently one step from Tom Jackson saying "they hate their QB"
- Since 2000 a host of teams that weren't playing 'unstoppable', weren't on anyone's radar as of week 8 ended up making the SB and even winning the SB.

Peyton Manning is a rarity in how good of a QB he is. Also, the NFL has a woody over Manning because he is that critical wholesome image along with a ratings positive. Yet Week 8 frequently does not define a team, even one with a QB that is corporate-ly loved and (deservedly though begrudgingly) a certain HoF-er.

Oh yeah, one other thing, wasn't Cincy very very tough to beat and definitely the second best team in the AFC just before the Patriots game?

The biggest travesty in rule changes was after the LOB shut them down in the SB, they changed all the damn rules, STRICTLY for the passing game
