They took way to long on that one.

Giants would be stupid to hire BB next year at 74.
But, it'd make a great story for a final 2 years or something.
Otherwise I heard Cowherd suggest McCarthy - which would probably be a good fit actually.

Players get let go if they start to slip. It is part of the business. Holding onto coaches that obviously suck leads to player disengagement in years to come. If the owners are going to support coaches cutting veteran players, then they have to appear honest and even handed by cutting coaches too. There is no harm in cutting Dabol, the Giants are better off losing at this point. So the owner makes a statement that everyone is treated fairly, if anyone slips they will be released.

Also it's a short term shot to drive up fan engagement. At least for one week, there'll be a few more asses in seats and TV viewership will shoot up.

I think as the NYG start the replacement process, some potential new hires will not interview while the position is still occupied.
They will with an "interim".
Don't sell Kafka short. He has been an up and comer and has "finished second" a couple of times for other jobs.
My assumption is that priority #1 is working well with Dart, and Kafka already has that leg up on everyone else.
So you’re not expecting a big metamorphosis with Kafka then?

Yeah, that would be a good hire and seems like a Giants move.

Josh isn't leaving.
Josh isn't leaving.
Josh isn't leaving.
Josh isn't leaving.
Josh isn't leaving.

For ****'s sake people, stop with this.
Shefter was just on ESPN this morning saying McD isn't going anywhere for a long, long time if ever. He loves doing what he is doing right now. He has a chance at coaching Brady 2.0.

I could see someone like Flores or Spags, with the stipulation that Kafka is going to stay as OC and run the offense.

One thing I've never understood with a firing like this one... they're 2-8. They're not turning this season around and making the playoffs. Why not wait? What's the benefit of this? Do they want the interim coach to win some games??

I mean - they're already paying Daboll millions and they're not going to find a good replacement on the street at this point. Why not just keep him and write off the rest of this season? They still have to pay him millions to NOT coach now.
If you deem your coach a failure why let him continue to infect your organization?

Has an interim HC ever stayed and gone back to coordinator? Maybe the guy in NO when Payton was suspended, but that’s different

I believe Romeo did and Arians did as well

you remember last season when Dead Man Walking Jerod Mayo did everything he could to win the last meaningless game of the year, stripping us of the 1st overall pick?

Thats why, so stupid stuff like that doesn't happen

Perfect reason except in your example, I would say that it worked out better the way it went. If they had #1, they probably would have drafted Hunter and I don't think this team is where they are if that happened.

we were taking LT Will Campbell even if Travis Hunter was available... What did the Jags pay to move up from 5 to 2 to take Travis Hunter?

could we have gotten Campbell at 5? yes.

Terrified this is where McDaniels goes.

Do you ever stop panicking? Seriously, they are 8-2, completely outplaying everyone's expectations, winning big games, and you are freaking out about a stupid rumor. Try enjoying this run, it's a lot of fun, and that's been in short supply since Brady left town. Breathe deep, watch Drake Maye highlights, enjoy the ride. MacDaniels isn't going anywhere.

I was thinking the same thing the other day. Will Campbell is playing at or around All Pro level. Not Pro Bowl level, which even I have made 4 of the last 5 years, but All Pro level. Left tackle was their biggest need going into last offseason, and they filled it with a kid who is going to be a Joe Thomas level left tackle for the rest of his career. That's not a home run pick, it's a grand slam pick, and had they had the first pick it probably would have been Abdul Carter. Beyond that the rookie season has proven to be the most difficult season for even the top left tackles, yet Campbell has somehow managed to avoid that and play exceptionally well throughout this season.

I don't think so. He's basically HC of the offense of a playoff team and this is where his family wants to be.
Plus, Mark Davis is paying him $10M/year through 2028, minus whatever the Patriots choose to pay him.

He'd be a total ****ing idiot if he chose to leave the setup he has going for himself.

Note: I don't think he's a total ****ing idiot.

Do we even know what Josh’s relationship with BB is?

Would he want to work under BB again?

Or is the question would Josh be interested in the Giants HC job?

I don't have any evidence of this, but I have always believed that committing to the Patriots was a significant part of the interview Vrabel had with MacDaniels. And I believe that MacDaniels made that commitment. I don't think that means forever, but I think it's around a minimum of 3 years here. But since MacDaniels youngest kid is around 13 he may have decided to stay until they finish school. Regardless he's in an enviable position for any OC, he has the most talented young QB in the league, he's playing lights out, and MacDaniels is looking like a genius because that.

Report about it on NFL network just now commented about how Dart makes it an attractive position for other head coaches “or former head coaches”.

NFLN is ass.
