Its funny tho the minute Josh Allens wife opens her ****ing mouth about the Bills being so dominant they end up losing the division and firing their coach

"Hee hee, the AFC East? You mean the Buffalo Bills and their three sons? Tee hee!!!"

- Bills lose the AFC East division title
- Josh Allen craps the bed in the playoffs, loses in the divisional round
- Patriots advance to the AFC Championship Game
- Sean McDermott gets fired

Patriots don't have the special season and Bills get home field, likely in AFC championship.
Bills were better than Broncos but had to go on road and decided to turn it over 5 times.

One year too late in my opinion, so I'm not shocked. In all honesty, for a team that just needs to get over the hump and could use a guy for 2-3 seasons to do that, the nightmare scenario would be seeing Belichick end up there. But I don't know who he'd have for a staff, especially on offense, and that would likely be a big key to that and hurt his chances of that happening.
BB and Daboll and Brian Flores would be so filthy

So given the playoffs, they had to wait until the two name-brand veteran coaches were off the market. And there's no obvious Ben Johnson type this year.

If you're the Bills, which direction do you turn?
I don't think Joe Brady is the answer. Maybe they bring back Daboll or go for one of the hot youngsters, Kubiak's. Hafley et al.
Could go either way. A new HC could improve the team, but could also make it worse. McDermott was not the best coach by any means but he also was not awful. I have seen a lot of worse coaches. He made mistakes but he generally had the team prepared to play week-in and week-out and he didn't make too many baffling decisions. He is a bit above average IMO. If the Bills go for a flashy young hire and they turn out to be a dud, they'll be wasting some of the few years Josh Allen still has left that he can really still take punishment on QB runs.

Furthermore, unless they promote Joe Brady (which would bring its own potential challenges), Josh Allen will most likely have to learn a new offensive scheme which might not work out well.

Additionally, their front office has not really been very good; if they aren't making any changes there, then just changing the coaching staff isn't going to necessary pay big dividends, even if it's a good staff.
Ironically, MacDermott gets fired but it was Allen that repeatedly screwed the pooch. For that game, he turned into the Allen of year 1 and 2. He was a little frenetic. MacDermott is a good coach, some in game decisions are shaky, but he is probably the best guy out there. I would pick him over Harbaugh or Stefanski.

The Bills need a complete overhaul at WR & their defensive talent is average. McDermott isn’t a great HC but he continuously had his defenses play above their talent level.

They have to upgrade the roster with 5 draft picks and negative cap space and install a new defensive scheme. Good luck.
They need to upgrade that defense. I saw a stat where the last 7 playoff losses, the defense has given up an average of 31.5 points.

I’d like to see BB get the all time wins record, which he would do, but if he is also in charge of the draft there is nothing to worry about long term.

But it wasn’t a catch
I heard Chris Simms discussing it this morning and he said the majority of people he talked to felt it was a catch and the Bills got hosed.

OK, too bad so sad.

The refs helped the Bills beat the Pats and have been making brutal calls all year to all teams.

That along with the arrogant and dismissive Bills fans leaves me feeling zero sympathy for them.

If they bring in Dabol he can relearn that offense.

The only two guys in this cycle that have already been hired.

I go back to Saturday, 16 seconds left in the first half and no timeouts left, take a knee go into halftime instead Josh fumbles and Broncos kick a field goal.

One old fool yaps about another old fool getting a coaching gig....
No projection there, right?

If there's ever a scenario where BB could rediscover any of his magic, this is probably it. Two strong coordinators he has experience with, and the offensive guy would have familiarity with the elite QB he'd be coaching. We also never saw Belichick truly operate in a "win now" window where he was using large signing bonuses/void years in contracts and/or trading future picks for current ones. I imagine if BUF brought him in that's what they'd be pushing too, which should help add on field talent for him.

If he does, and he might, it just reinforces the view that the available hires are not great.

Pats changed HC at the right time.

If they didn’t get Vrabel they would have gotten Ben Johnson.
While that'd have been a win-win either way, and there was no wrong choice, Vrabel was still the right choice.
