So given the playoffs, they had to wait until the two name-brand veteran coaches were off the market. And there's no obvious Ben Johnson type this year.

If you're the Bills, which direction do you turn?

The problem with firing a divisional round pllayoff coach is that the top prospects have already been poached from the talent pool.

Promoting Joe Brady or going Minter, Shula or Hafley?
Leave McDaniels alone for gods sake.
Josh Allen would tempt any coach.

Thank God we have Vrabel.

If Bill didn't take North Carolina job and just did another year of TV and didn't have a weird annoying 24 year old girlfriend and was still with Linda, i'm pretty sure he gets this job.

Instead he's pretty much unhireable, sad how he's nuked himself.

“I’m richer than god, need a second hand for my SB rings & im banging a sophomore…. Nuked ? Hrrphm…”

They obviously have picked a new coach behind closed doors.

Probably an offensive guy.

McDermott was a good defensive coach. I don’t think you want go back with a defensive minded HC and I don’t think there is a better defensive HC on the market.

If I am Buffalo, I am probably trying to go after Daboll.

Really would have been fun (from a pure NFL standpoint) to see Harbaugh go from Baltimore to Buffalo.

No idea who they're gonna bring in but gotta figure it's all about maximizing their Josh Allen window so someone who is a bigtime offensive mind.

Praying it's McDaniels because that'd be hilarious.

I feel like people lose the human aspect when they say stuff like this. Reminder: Our billionaire owner went to a ****ty strip mall for a beej.

More to the point, what if McDermott was brought into a meeting about staff changes, the meeting turned contentious because the wrong guy had had one shot too many middle of the day and tempers flare.

People probably should stop assigning a near mythical quality for decision making to the ruling class because we're clearly ruled by corrupt idiots both in government and business.

I think the Joe Brady angle must play a part in this.

I don't think they'll necessarily promote Joe Brady themselves, but they likely know someone else will take Brady for their own opening, because there are so few good candidates. So they'd be stuck with McDermott and needing a new OC. They figure if they're replacing the OC they may as well fire McDermott instead and try to lure a good OC somewhere else to become the HC in Buffalo.

That can’t be right
Vrabel and Glenn both have 1 year. Although TECHNICALLY Vrabel has the most "tenure" because Vrabel was the first coach hired in the coaching cycle last year, so he has a few more weeks on Glenn.

Pats - Vrabel, 1 year
Jets - Glenn, 1 year
Dolphins - fired McDaniel recently
Bills - just fired McDermott

Edit: Oops I thought the OP said "AFC East", but they said "AFC". My bad. The only guys in the AFC with more than 1 season are:

Andy Reid - 13 seasons
Zac Taylor - 7 seasons
Sean Payton - 3 seasons
DeMeco Ryans - 3 seasons
Shane Steichen - 3 seasons
Jim Harbaugh - 2 seasons

I can see Miami going hard after McDermott.

I think Vegas would be interested too.

If you are Vegas with Mendoza coming a package McDermott HC / Daboll OC could be tempting

Nothing was signed last time i checked.

Buffalo just became the top coaching job out there

Yeah, pretty easy choice between the Bills and the Giants.

Would you rather choose a possible great Josh Allen in Buffalo or Evel Knievel in the Meadowlands?
