I did read your posts. Everyone understands that things are set up in such a way that Brady may not return to the Patriots. That the family bought a house in Connecticut does nothing to change that, one way or the other.

I mean, you do know that the very same family once owned a home in California, right?

Yes, by itself the house in CT does not prove anything...

I really truly do not know. My gut sez one more year but that was what I believed about Gronk until he retired. As some members have said, he will definitely test the market.

*IF* he stays, we all will need to debate Gronk returning again next summer.

I would let him stay with us, however there are problems:

    1. 40 minutes to the stadium - too far

    2. Small place - too cramped for him

    3. Wife is total Patriots widow - she hates Tom and would be happy if the franchise folded

Let's consider something more reasonable, but biggest factor is FAMILY.

Red Auerbach & Dottie agreed from the outset that the family would spend the (longer) NBA season home in D.C. - Away from Dad, but also away from Dad's wild basketball mood swings. Actually, with Red doing everything for the team, Dad was going to be away anyway.

I know they'd have to deal with wherever he's playing...Greenwich is closer than Big Sky...

At this point, if Tom hasn't earned all the cred and trust from us that he's doing what he thinks is best for him and his family and that no matter what he's going into the HOF as a Patriot, I don't know what to say.

That's the tricky part. If Brady wants them to." break the bank" for him, what weapons could they even bring in around him? They won't be able to. The debate is whether or not Brady would take less, like he's always done.

I agree but lets break it further. Why would he all of a sudden not agree to less? What has changed? I think we all take a guess and it's not a stretch to say last negotiations didn't go well. When he said "I'm just an employee" or however he put it, I was a bit shocked. So these guys need to get in a room and fix it. BB has proven that he can restock an offense and we don't need to break the bank.

If however for some weird reason, after 20 years of evidence to the contrary, Brady really wants a top end contract... well he'll be gone. Could it be he wants lots of weapons? I mean maybe? I think he would be fine with retooling like they've done many times before. Who really knows yet.

None of what they've done proves anything about Brady and football next year. That's the whole point. Speculate all you want. But when you change speculation to assertion, don't expect everyone else to accept the nonsense.

And talk to Phillip Rivers about commutes, for Goodness sake.

Agreed. Brady kinda set those terms up last negotiation, to not be franchised and he can opt out of the agreement and be a restricted free agent. There's a part of me who still thinks Kraft won't let Brady go. They've always had a great relationship. Bill is the outlier. He's the head coach/GM so his only goal and job is to find the required talent, for the right price that would help the team win.

I also agree with the weapons debate. He would def need a good TE, a good WR or 2 and some OL. That would be enough but there's also a ton of defensive free agents, some of our best weapons on D so we have to consider those as well.

I just hope they don't let this linger until 24 hours before. The longer they wait, IMO, the more he's gone. Start talking sooner than later to get things going. Kraft should be able to do that. BB I mean, who can get a read on that guy. I'm not even convinced he doesn't want Tom back. Of course he has a number in mind but he's not an idiot be's not going to ask Tom to play for 15 mil, and he can't be in any kind of rush to rebuild. Does he think a guy like Andy Dalton makes them better? I mean...I can't see any reality where he thinks that but who the heck knows. Could it be Tom really is insisting on a 2 year deal and it's really all about that? I think they could get in a room and make that work if that's the case. It's just strange and there's so much guessing because of the nature of how BB does business. He won't say anything. It's almost like a standoff now for no reason. Tom won't say he wants to be back even though he says he loves it here, and Bill says nothing.

You can tell some people don't know how easy it is for super rich people do things. Brady & Giselle decided months ago the Brookline home isn't gonna be their full-time/off-season/post-playing career home and the Greenwich house was. Probably had it planned to move to the Greenwich house once the season was over

Also people do realize that unless he plays for the jest or giants he's gonna have to get a place wherever he goes

So if Brady retires, will you stop being an NFL fan as you've said numerous times? Pretty please?

Brady is at TB12 in Boston today. That fact means just as much as the fact his suite at Gillette was "cleaned more than ever".

It's all weasel words to make a story. He might leave. He might stay. But I refuse to believe Greg F*cking Hill at WEEI would know more than anyone in this site.

what's Brady's dead money cap hit if he signs elsewhere? 13.5 million? The Pats are basically strapped for cap money at 45 mil. Either they pay Brady and paste together another roster with mid-level and rookie players or they go with Stidham, sign 2 OLmen, at least one TE, 2 receivers, a MLB to replace Hightower, a safety to replace Chung and hope the D lineman they stashed this season flash well enough to start next season. Looks like Thuney may be gone which means they'll need to replace an all pro guard. Questions as to the health of our center, right tackle and yes, left tackle raise the specter of a real crapshoot if Brady takes 35 million of the cap.

I have no idea how they'll address this, especially seeing how Miami and Buffalo will have 100 million + to spend in cap. Might be time to bite the bullet and let Brady walk. Our one hope is the rest of the league has gone gaa gaa over RPO type QB's now and consider Brady a dinosaur, leading to low ball offers in FA. I doubt that but...today, given the nature of fickle owners and the proliferation of RPO type college QB's entering the league, I can see them taking the rookie QB route rather than tying 30 million in cap on a 43 year old QB that has never played in any other system.

To be as honest as possible,I wouldn't mind another season of Brady, even if it's his swan song but at some point soon the Pats have to cut the strings.
