Brady / Belichick Era All-Time Superbowl Roster

Ehh....

I wouldn't be getting stuck in a 4-3 if I were looking at the all-time BB SB team. I'd be setting it as a 3-4. And, even without breaking things down too far, almost all of the choices are easy to me.

Brady, Bledsoe*
Dillon, Lewis
Light, Mankins, Koppen, Neal, Vollmer
Gronk
Moss, Welker, Edelman

Seymour, Wilfork, Warren
Vrabel, Bruschi, May0, Hightower
Law, Revis
Harrison, McCourty

Gostkowski

The only slot that's even remotely difficult is the second RB, which would come down to Lewis v. White, and which would be a problem solved the moment I added in the backups beyond QB. Every other slot is a lock.

*For me, there's not enough info on JAG to put him in the equation.

Trey Flowers would be a monster on the early 2000s teams if he had Washington or Vince next to him with Seymour on the other side, plus those LB corps backing him. He's a special talent.

Regards,
Chris

Offense:
QB- Brady, Bledsoe
RB- "Clock Killin" Corey Dillion, James White
WR1- R. Moss

WR5-W. Welker
OT- M. Light, N. Solder
OG- L. Mankins, S. Neal
C- D. Koppen
Defense:
DL: Richard Seymour, Vince Wilfork, R. Ninkovich (I'll count him as a DE)

K: Adam Vinatieri
P- Allen

What makes Gostkowski over Vinatieri an easy call for you?

Also, who's your next one in / first one out for LB's if you had to swap?

To me perhaps the biggest difficulty in compiling one of these 'all-time lists' is to remember to differentiate between a player's time with the Patriots, and that player's time throughout the rest of his pro football career.

Junior Seau, Vinny Testaverde, Doug Flutie and many others would be examples.

With that in mind, here's a near-zero-thought listing:

QB: Tom Brady, Matt Cassel
RB: Corey Dillon, Antowain Smith
FB: James Develin
WR: Wes Welker, Julian Edelman, Randy Moss, Deion Branch
TE: Rob Gronkowski, Ben Watson
OL: Matt Light, Logan Mankins, Dan Koppen, Steven Neal, Sebastian Vollmer

DL: Richard Seymour, Vince Wilfork, Ted Washington, Trey Flowers
LB: Willie McGinest, Dont'a Hightower, Jerod Mayo, Tedy Bruschi
S: Devin McCourty, Rodney Harrison
CB: Ty Law, Asante Samuel

K: Stephen Gostkowski
P: Ryan Allen
LS: Lonie Paxton
ST: Matt Slater

* Depending on formation there are eight 'front seven' players, not 7.
** That is 32 players if my math is correct. The rest of the roster:

RB: Kevin Faulk, Dion Lewis, Danny Woodhead
WR: Troy Brown
TE: Martellus Bennett
OL: Nate Solder, Brian Waters, David Andrews, Shaq Mason, Marcus Cannon

DL: Rob Ninkovich, Ty Warren, Chandler Jones
LB: Mike Vrabel, Ted Johnson, Jamie Collins, Roosevelt Colvin
S: Patrick Chung, Lawyer Milloy
CB: Darrelle Revis, Logan Ryan

That's 21 more, for your 53-man roster (minus focus on special teams).

I don't understand the Welker over Troy Brown decisions. Troy Brown was not only clutch as **** he was Brady's first binkie. :D

TB to TB.

This team has never gone wrong with TB's. Bruschi, Brown and Brady.

QB: Tom Brady (Bledsoe)
RB: Corey Dillon, Dion Lewis (Faulk, White, Ridley, Woodhead)
FB: Patrick Pass (Develin)
WR: Randy Moss, Deion Branch, Julian Edelman, Troy Brown (Amendola, Givens)
TE: Rob Gronkowski (Bennett, Hernandez)
OL: Matt Light, Logan Mankins, Dan Koppen, Shaq Mason, Sebastian Vollmer (Solder, Woody)
DL: Richard Seymour, Vince Wilfork, Ted Washington, Trey Flowers (C.Jones, Warren)
LB: Willie McGinest, Dont'a Hightower, Tedy Bruschi, Roman Phiefer (Colvin, Vrabel, Mayo)
S: Devin McCourty, Rodney Harrison (Milloy, Chung)
CB: Ty Law, Darrelle Revis (O.Smith, Gilmore, Samuel)

K: Stephen Gostkowski
P: Zoltan Mesko
LS: Joe Cardona
ST: Matt Slater (B.King)

I think that's 53.

Oh Gawd..how could I leave out Bruschi...and Milloy too...and Branch, Dion...and Kevin Faulk, too!

RB - Antowain Smith, James White (Shane Vereen)
WR - Edelman, Branch (Brown, Givens,
TE - Gronk (Graham, Wiggins)
OT - Light, Solder (Vollmer)
OG - Compton, Andruzzi (Mankins)
OC - Koppen

defense 3-4
DL - Seymour, Wilfork, Warren (Hamilton, Branch)
LB - Ninko, Vrabel, Bruschi, Mcginest (Hightower)
DB - Law, Mccourty, Harrison, Butler (Chung, OSmith)

Recency Bias. And really only Brown's 2001 season is comparable to Welker's.

QB: Brissett, Garoppolo Honorable Mention: Brady

  • Ha Ha
Reactions: sb1
people taking welker of jules are crazy.

Both guys in their prime, i take Jules 100% of the time. Like he said "He made the catch"

i can't believe nobody mentioned hernandez as #2 TE
Because he is not better than Gronk and if we are considering pure TEs that have played in the Super Bowl then Daniel Graham might be a better choice.

Based on Super Bowl and Playoff performance

Bledsoe
Dillon, White (the 3rd down back was REALLY hard but White's SB51 performance was legendary)
Squirrel, Branch, Danny Playoffs
Light, Neal, Koppen, Andruzzi, Vollmer
Gronk

Flowers, Sey, VW, Nink
Bru, High, Willie (thought about Vrabel as TE2 )
Law, Malcolm
Rodney, DMC

Kicker: AV
Punter: Allen
