I believe I read somewhere that the NFL rewards teams with conditional draft picks for giving jobs to minorities if those minorities end up being head coaches or promoted to higher positions in different organizations.

I read it a year or two ago in regards to the 49ers taking advantage of this and get a bunch of extra picks.

It would be nice if they applied the same rule to teams that are gutted of their coaching staff due to their success. I mean they already do this when teams lose free agents.
That's exactly what I was talking about in the second paragraph.

But my point is that instead of rewarding teams that lost minority coaches/GMs (those are the positions that earn draft picks; coordinators/assistants get nada), they actually were originally planning to improve the positions of teams that hired minority coaches.

Pretty sure dude didn’t wanna bench Rham because he wanted to seem like a nice guy….coaching 101…you aren’t their friend. Same with all the others that would’ve been benched when they fcked up.

I thought the article would have more detail that would be interesting, so I paid $1 for a full year access, I mean it was $1 so why not, just need to set a reminder to cancel next year LOL.

The Stevensen part was really the only interesting tidbit I thought. It kind of alternates between, "he never had a chance with this roster" quotes to "lack of accountability and preventable issues stemming from poor culture and coaching" type stuff.

“If you don’t have talent, then there’s really nothing else,” one source said.

However, most sources felt the Patriots’ problems also multiplied by mid-December due to a lack of accountability and preventable issues stemming from poor culture and coaching.
“Discipline is mandatory when you have a young team, so we don’t try to cut corners or slip through the cracks and stuff like that,” a veteran player said. “And I feel like that’s really what happened (with Mayo).”

It was Meh article, I'm sure there will be enough articles to make my $1 worth it by next year, not there yet.

This is all so entirely unsurprising. It was obvious in that first press conference that he had no vision for the team. He just spoke in generic corporate language and of being nice to each other - as if that alone makes a team. It then became obvious when he kept talking about being a CEO that he had no intention of grinding and doing what was necessary to build a successful franchise. He stepped back, pushed work onto his staff and then blamed them when it went wrong. And it was obvious by training camp that his so called culture reset just meant allowing players to do whatever they wanted, and discipline went out the window. The Judon episode was the prime example.
This diseased thinking…well, indoctrination…has infected corporate America and other institutions but thankfully an awakening is occuring.

Why should we? Our "starters" - Bourne, Douglas & Booty - are mere backups on a PO team; and the rest - SloPolk & half-Baked (and earlier including Ozzy & BoneyT) are Garbage.
SloPolk got me lol

WHat awakening? We're going the opposite way. We're diving headstrong into corporate thinking more and more. I see it everyday in institutions and corporate cultures. There's no pushback against this at all.

AVP heard about the plan to bench Rham from the media, but not his HC. So he went ahead and put Rham with the first unit. It forced Mayo to scramble to tell the only person he should have told but never did: AVP. Once he did, Rham only saw the field again a couple of snaps, but the damage was done. Out of pettiness for being thrown under the bus, or for whatever reason, AVP took the opportunity to put Mayo's incompetence in display.

If this is something that Ian could put in our sportsbook I'd go ALL IN with this being how that situation went down.

Gibson didn't know he was starting either. Reporters asked him about it after the game and he said that was the first he had heard of it. So supposedly Mayo "told AVP" at some point in space and time but did not speak to either Stevenson or Gibson about it and also did not bother to check the game script.
If true, the fact that he didn't tell Stephenson face to face that he was being benched as a disciplinary measure is damning.

While not frequent, Bill - via his coach would tell a player the day of they are starting/sitting. During the week the players would take reps as if they were preparing to start.

I'm really not sure what happened here. Like you hypothesized in another post either Mayo is lying about telling AVP or AVP forgot. OR AVP intentionally ignored Mayo's directive.

At any rate, it's dysfunction.
No way AVP forgot. That would not have been a minor directive. Either Mayo lied or AVP ignored it, and if the latter that's damning on Mayo for not having reviewed the offensive game plan.

Read this am that the belief is Mayo changed his mind.

So indecisive.

As Belichick once said (paraphrasing), his job wasn't to give the media good sound bites, it was to prepare the team to win on Sundays.

Mayo could've said something like "You'll see who's starting in a little bit." But he didn't, and he ended up with egg on his face.

(About Stevenson starting when he shouldn't) - "The reason that Rhamondre Stevenson started, after Jerod Mayo told the media he would be benched, is because of disorganization. Mayo relayed the information to AVP who forgot/didn’t relay the information to Stevenson/the running backs coach. This created an embarrassing situation where Mayo couldn’t explain why 20 minutes before the game he said Stevenson would be benched, and he started anyway. Points to much larger dysfunction."

I’m going to give the moderators plenty of opportunity to delete ignorant ******** like the post above, if they don’t delete them I’ll respond to it. I’m ****ing done with this ********. Fascist A-Hole.

The real disease in this country is Fascism, and now the Fascists are about to be fully in charge.

May tried hard to be the anti-BB without understanding that BB got to where he was after 48 years of coaching. In those 48 years you can bet that BB had tried every little thing and that eventually shaped his coaching philosophy through the process of elimination of what didn't work.

Go ahead. I want you to argue against MLK's doctrine of "content of character over color of skin".

Like I said, I’ll give the moderators plenty of time to delete the political posts, if they don’t then I will respond. If you guys want this forum to turn into a total ****show then that’s your choice, but I’m not going to stand by idly while you take your shots without responding.
