Bill O'Brien to be the next OC?

At the beginning of this off-season BO'B would not have been my first choice to replace JM. After losing a few coaches the need now is solid, experienced leadership. I hope this comes to fruition.
As for personality; I think Mac could work with anyone.

I hope we hire an Eskimo or a Pacific Islander for OC for diversity sake.

But otherwise, I am for O'Brien. He knows how to use two TE's.

This sounds like Adam Gase when you look at what Bill is looking for.
Experienced outside the oegsnizaion.
But I would prefer Obrein.
How about Charlie Weis.

When I first saw this quote I immediately thought this is exactly how Saban and BB handle the rumor mill. It means nothing.

Interesting about the outside the org chatter, obviously implies they don’t think any of their internal guys are ready for this.

Regarding the two quotes on BoB, both could be true. Saban deflecting and saying he hasn’t heard anything yet… because BoB has reached out to him directly yet because he wasn’t sure of the situation. We’ll see, hopefully whatever decision the Pats make works out.

If Obrein sets Mac up for success I think that would be his quickest path for a HC position here or elsewhere.

BoB would be my top choice.
I'm not opposed to Gase but I'd like someone else.
Interested to see what other options with EP experience would fit. Hopefully there's someone with a little cache that fits.

When it says experienced play caller is it limited to NFL?
Could they be diving in the college pool?

I hope so.

He was what made the 2 TE set work beautifully. I think he can do wonders with Henry and Smith. Obviously it won't be as good as Gronk/Hernandez, but it be fun to watch

I'd say anything is possible college, retirement pool, current NFL. I'm hoping maybe there is a good NFL coordinator who maybe doesn't use it now but maybe did years ago and wants to go back to it. From what I've read in here Gase seems to be the top option non patriot who uses EP but maybe there's someone we don't know has some experience.

IMO it's between O'Shea and O'Brian.
But if it's an outsider then I think they go with Gase....but I hope not.

BoB best option imo, he’s down with OPP

it will be whoever's cheapest

Chess vs Checkers again.

Its BOB.

Starting at the end of the story and going backwards reveals the plan all along. BOB has served as the Alabama OC for a season. The same offense that Mac played in. BOB no doubt brought Patriots concepts with him and will take Alabama concepts when he leaves.

The Pats have been linked to an Alabama WR in the 2022 draft coached by BOB.

What did Dante Scarnecchia just say? The Patriots need a move the chains guy that is missing?

Not interested in having Gase as a part of the Patriots organization.

Chad O’Shea makes sense. He is the passing game coordinator on Cleveland, was an OC in Miami, and has lots of experience under different Patriots OCs.
