The problem is the roster is getting worse and Bill can't identify talent in the draft on offense or worse just doesn't think much of it.

I mean we had clear talent issues on offense going into the season and first 4-5 picks were defense. Juju over Meyers, Then DeAndre Hopkins falls in our lap and we offer him an insulting incentive laden deal as if we still have Brady and are competing for super bowls.
Yeah seriously.

How many of our offensive starters right now start for a legit playoff team? 1? Maybe 2? How can anyone say this roster is a playoff team if the QB was right?

If I didn’t understand things I’d be all angry and want to punish someone also.
But I understand how things work.
Every team has down periods. An NFL team is a member of a group that has rules conspiring to make good teams worse and bad teams better to produce parity.
Being on top of 20 years is all but impossible. When the down period comes after that and because of decisions made to extend it, a reasonable person can’t be irate that it finally happened. It’s inevitable.
Rebuilding in the NFL is hard. Look across the league it almost never happens fast, and almost never takes in the first version.
Had the qb pick worked out (and I don’t see how you can argue against making the pick at the time) they would have stayed contenders after a quick reset. It didn’t and the team has been held back by the QB.

Sure, the easy thing to do is to act like “going to the afc cg every year” is your standard and belichick isn’t up to it, but it’s not, it’s a standard only belichick has ever attained and your perceived birthright to it is because of him. Sure the east thing to do is the get really angry, find a target, and call for punishment because as an observing fan who literally has no choice but to accept that the organization does, you must require punishment.

I chose to use my brain. This organization was built by the best ever to do it.
Rather than seek vengeance through a “I’m a sb fan, get rid of that coach who isn’t up to my standard” idiocy, I see the best way forward as keeping in place the man who has proven to be the best who ever did it. I can’t fathom who you could possibly want to bring in that would be more likely to be able to start the next dynasty.

Look man, you can convince yourself all you want. I'm very interested to see what you'll have to say after January 7th..

People aren't expecting the Patriots to be competing for a super bowl.

But you expect to see marginal improvements and increases in roster talent.

On offense the talent has only gotten worse each year.

If a CEO has the best ever to go the job, and the organization is going through an inevitable downtime after the greatest period of success ever, he keeps the talent in place.
Of course the coach of a professional sports team in a salary capped league is operation under wholly different circumstances than a CEO.
No. The chairman and the BoD oust the CEO because the last four years - which is what truly maters; is what is being evaluated and not the previous 19

No they aren’t. They’re not missing the playoffs by a little bit like last year they aren’t even close
Because of qb pkay. With mediocre qb play (say 25th best-ish) they gave at least 4 more wins no question.
Bring the QB play to the NFL average and this is absolutely a playoff team.
That’s the definition of a playoff roster besides the QB.
The defense almost single handedly win games of the qb play was only just bad.

So you don’t care whether the patriots won or lose, it’s all just meaningless entertainment, yet you post here and trash them when they lose?
BS
At the end of the day, it is entertainment. Why else would you be watching it in your spare time if not for entertainment?

I'm a fan of the team. I voice my displeasure with the entertainment I just watched just as I would if I saw a movie I didn't like. A bad movie or a bad football game don't change my life in any significant way (if at all). But I can have an opinion on it.

Marginal increases don’t lead to SBs. Progress in the NFL isn’t linear. Linear progress leads to stagnation.

My gut feeling is Mayo is promoted to HC.. the Belichick boys would then have to decide what is best for them. I'm thinking Demarcus covington as DC.. Barmore has praised him for his resurgence. Billy O stays on as OC. Groh is GM, wolf assistant GM.. I'm telling folks Mayo is his own man.. he won't be a Bill clone in my opinion.
OK, I haven’t been following closely for the past 2-3 years.

What are Groh’s credentials to make people believe he is going to be a successful GM?

The Buffalo Bills are probably a playoff team. Who from our offense starts for them? Does anyone? THAT is how you define a playoff worthy roster.

And you can’t say “no question” when you’re talking about a hypothetical.

The team doesn’t exist for you.

but what if the CEO makes a big change and it appears that the change has the company in a better trajectory?

i'm not disagreeing. but I think it muddies the waters. with any other coach/gm its a no-brainer. with Bill, kraft may give him another year..we all know that theres more to it. but right about now, how much of the narrative has changed from "the roster is garbage" to "if they went to zappe sooner we would be competing for a wildcard spot"
If that is the case then Bill mis-evaluated the QB position even worse than we think he did.

You could ask the same about any of Bills people like most of Bill's hires.. he knew his father Al groh!!!! However he's been with the organization for a while in different personnel capacity roles, he's in charge or contracts and signing players. Basically the nick caserio role.

You might be our best poster right now!

Those are silly arguments. Who you think is better, what you think is more important is irrelevant and proves nothing. What happens on the field matters. Football is a team game.
A playoff worthy roster is a roster that makes the playoffs.
A playoff worthy roster, except for the QB, I’d a roster that makes the playoffs with average QB play. LV, wash, giants, la, Indy games are certain wins if we had average qb play. That’s a 9-6 roster with an average QB, 4-11 with the dregs of the league.

I don’t have to convince myself, it’s very clear.

I’m just comparing our offensive roster to an actual playoff team’s. Who from our offense can start for the Bills who probably are a playoff team. RBs? No. TE? No. Receivers? No. OL? Maybe 1 at most? The QBs certainly can’t. So it’s not hard to conclude there’s no argument to be made that sans lousy QB play this is a playoff worthy roster. No it isn’t.

And there’s literally no certainty when you’re talking about a hypothetical.

This doesn't make sense at all. So the roster getting more talented doesn't lead to Superbowls?

So the drafting being poor and roster getting worse does?

It's been 4 years since we had our "reset year" and the roster is worse. That's not a successful rebuild
