Just a year ago, Baker Mayfield's future seemed secure in Cleveland -- before rapidly falling apart. He's now headed to Carolina. This is how we got here.www.espn.com
Poor Baker. I do feel sorry for him. I don't know if he's a locker room problem or not, but I do know players recovering from a separated shoulder are going to have next to ZERO accuracy. All these players knocking him wouldn't go out there and play with a high ankle sprain.
I can remember this through my 45 years of watching football. John Elway, Tony Eason, the list goes on and on. Once you sprain that thing, that's it. Shut it down. Your back up should have more success if his name isn't Curtis Painter. Baker messed himself up in the eyes of his teammates by continuing to play.
I feel kinda bad for him too. Nature of the business thoughInside Baker Mayfield's split with the Cleveland Browns

That’s definitely a possibility but it would sure be tricky to pull that off. First of all, you’d have a *very* disgruntled QB. Then what do you do with him when Watson comes back?Still wouldn't be shocked if the Brownies don't move Mayfield until they are certain of Watson's status for this season.one way or the other...

I have a feeling they will eventually simply cut bait. I dunno though, I certainly wouldn’t bet on it since I really don’t know….
So what's your point? He is still going to be pissed off at his current situation, which is not ideal for team or player. If they can't find someone to pick up his cap hit, why would they trade him?
Disgruntled? If Watson is suspended 6-8 games, Mayfield will be playing for his career life plus next contract.

Baker Mayfield is no Aaron Rodgers (and I won't address the idiocy of people suggesting Rodgers threw a football game). Not to mention, how upset could Rodgers really have been? After all the speculation, he signed a new deal to stay in the same place. Mayfield has absolutely zero long term future in Cleveland.Aaron Rogers was supposed to have been pissed off at his situation to the point people actually thought he lost the first game of the season on purpose at the time.
He wouldn't be the first athlete to misbehave with tens of millions of dollars on the line.Either Mayfield's a professional QB or he's not. There are tens of millions of dollars on the line for him.
It is the fact that he is such a competitor that is working against him. He is showing he is not going to meekly accept backup duty in Cleveland, even if that means he gets to start while Watson serves his suspension.Drew Brees faced this in San Diego. Jimmy G did last year. If Mayfield acts like a baby, his career is pretty much over as being viewed a top QB, if it isn't already.
I believe Mayfield is enough of a competitor to get past this and be as much as Jimmy was in terms of approach, if he's kept. (Assuming Watson is suspended a while).
Mayfield is another Johnny Football.
I told Browns fans that I knew that Josh Allen was the QB to take. Those dopes could not decide over Mayfield, Rosen or Darnold.
Tell you something else, Kyle Trask is the next one to watch.
