Are you "almost" glad now that deflategate happened?

What the heck is it with fans who want to bring up negative or just odd scenarios that make you feel awful?

We won the SB, our guys (BB * Brady) is without a doubt the GOAT (not that I doubted that before the game, but just consensus for the world finally catching up to us).

Celebrate. Enjoy. Soak it all in. And put those questions away forever or just a few weeks (at minimum).

Now mind you, we all know how horrible all of this BS has been over the last two years. But man... Winning this 5th after all Brady, the Patriots, and this fanbase has been through just makes this so much sweeter.

It's like this win took care of everything. It's even feeling like Brady just won back the majority of the court of public opinion, something we thought would be impossible.

The whole deflategate saga was a nightmare at times that seemed to get nothing but worse and worse. Now mind you again I say almost, because none of it should have ever happened. But now it just feels like it was part of the journey.

I think you and I have been golfing together.

I once golfed with a guy who pulled out his driver on a par 5 with the best intentions but drove the ball into the hole's par and distance marker sending his ball 50 yards behind us. His ball almost hit me. That's how far off target he was. But his intentions were good.

Man, I'm not wanting to do that at all. I can admit that maybe now is bad timing with the parade going on.

Andy I'm confused, what in my post leads to this response? I'm not saying I was glad it happened. I'm just glad that this was the outcome from it all.

Thats not what your OP said at all.

As a guy with the golf skills of Charles Barkley, this post helps me relate.

I can live with that. Guarantee you with a better worded thread title I don't get this response. My mistake I suppose.

I think you're just dealing with a fan base that doesn't think the gain was worth the "cost". I can tell you that I feel much more distanced from my previous emotional ties to the game, as a result of deflategate. It didn't make the win sweeter. It actually tainted it, because the "GFY" had become so all-consuming, in the wake of this having been the second time the league had pulled this sort of stunt, and this one having been so much more egregious than the first.

I should be feeling elation at the Patriots win. Instead, I'm feeling "It's not enough, because Goodell's head is not on a pike", and I'm stuck with the reality that I now despise the owner for selling out his team and the G.O.A.T. in order to keep his money flowing.

Coming from the guy who made a point to dislike every single one of my posts. That wasn't personal?

If you want to have an argument, as you can see above I'm willing to. But if you're going to throw a tantrum like a 5 year old, I don't have time for it.

OK, but he's bringing up a topic that clearly has negative conotations. Why look for a silver lining when you can just sit back and enjoy?

how about putting TB through all the extra stress for the last 2 years? How about people who will always believe he cheated and having to hear those comments forever (talking TB, not us fans as we will endure regardless).

So no, no matter how much sunshine anyone tries to blow up the deflategate woohoo, it doesn't make it a positive (to me).

I mean I suppose it's different for everybody. I understand why many fans have been numbed to this point. I guess I haven't let myself get quite to that point, but I think all of us Patriots fans can get that perspective.

What'd it say?

Well first you ask if we're almost glad it happened then end it saying it feels like it was part of the journey ,like it was supposed to happen. Yeah...no. This win would have been even better if we didn't have to deal with all the BS the past 2 season. I dont think anyone would disagree that they are glad this was the outcome from the deflategate crap. But not a single person in their right mind would ever be "almost" glad it happened even if it meant sticking it to Goodell in the end. The teams reputation is (even more) irreparably damaged and dumbass NFL fans would forever have this to try to diminish Brady's accomplishments forever tarnishing his image.

There is nothing to be confused about.
Winning the SB without getting railroaded, having the GOAT maligned, losing draft picks, and giving even more phony reason for fans of all teams to call the Patriots cheaters, Deflatetriots, etc, would certainly have been 1,000,000 times better.

You sound like you are treading near the landmine BB exploded yesterday where you think Brady was more motivated than he has been his entire career because of that stupid circus, and as BB said that is insulting.

Glad it happened? No obviously not.

Would I change it? No. Who knows how this season plays out in a world where the Pats have a #1 pick and Brady for week 1. You can't assume they'd win a Super Bowl in that scenario.

I don't think Brady was more motivated neccesarily, and I KNOW that that was far from number one thing on his mind, considering what him and his family has been going through.

You can be happy to watch a guy who completely railroaded you have to hand you that trophy, and yet not have that be your driving motivation at the same time.

i hereby nominate this thread for the worst thread ever.

No. I believe that they would have won SB49 and 51 anyway.

DFG was a black eye for the sport and personally hurtful for a lot of people.

Nothing is worth that.

It was very bad for this league.

With that, along with the Ray Rice incident being mishandled horribly, it really made the game lose it's sort of innocence if you will. It made you realize how much corruption is going on in those offices.

Nope. I can never be happy about something like that. But I'm glad the SB went the way it did. Brady winning #5 was already going to be historic and grand. For him to win it the way he did, though, is F*CKING EPIC! I don't think even fans realize how much that game will be talked about decades from now. Some kid a few decades from now is going to wonder if Brady was as good as the highlights and historians say. Sadly, they'll never really understand. It's that GREAT.

Wait now you think tom Brady is happy he had to have his reputation trashed and deal with everything he went through because it made the win better? Thee is less than zero chance of that.
