Are we getting enough of a pass rush from our interior D line?

thoughts?

We played the Cardinals where the main focus was on containing David Johnson and 2 mobile qbs in Tannenhill and Taylor where BB emphasizes contain. I thought they did a good job pressuring Osweiller.

Hard to tell with the game plans they roll out against mobile quarterbacks, which half of the games have been against.

no but bill doesnt over empathize on the pass rush, hes more about containment and assignments, and luring qbs into mistakes

Interesting, because his Giants Defenses were all about pass rush(Taylor) as were his 03-04 pats defenses, whom put a ton of pressure on QBs.

Considering none of our defenses over the past 8 years have been anywhere near league best, do you think he should consider over empathizing the pass rush much like Seattle of 2013 and Denver of 2015 had?

i think as the game evolved with protection of the quarterback and over emphasis of contact down the field, he thought giving up the xtra guy on coverage became more of a value

somewhere after 05/06 is where he moved from it

So the key is to get good secondary players? An area bb has arguably struggled in while Seattle and Denver have elite cbs. I don't feel confident having Logan Ryan in man coverage, do you?

LR has been hot and cold, Good Dbacks are rare now, since you cannot look at a wr and there are not on equal grounds on the field
i think ryan would be a good 3rd cb

Really? The Pats were 2nd in the nfl last year in sacks. They were 8th in points allowed-the most important of all defensive stats(WAY more important than yards). But that #8 ranking is deceptive-they were really top 5-because the 3 teams ahead of them allowed a TOTAL of 1,1 and 2 fewer points on the season. And none of those teams had the pats record or as many large 4th quarter leads, which of course led to a lot of garbage-time points vs. the pats. I would objectively argue that the pats were really #3 or #4-the #3 team was carolina-at 308-the pats allowed only 315. The patriots were a top 5 defense last year. And will be better this year.

That was with Chandler Jones and some other guys who aren't here. The pass rush has been dissapointing but we will see if it get's better.

I dont see cjones as a huge loss.sheard is abetter player. and you gotta believe some of the young guys will step up. not to mention long. losing hicks hurt a little. They didnt lose anyone else who mattered. and malcolm brown will be evn better. so will butler. so is collins. You cant really say pass rush has been a disappointment yet-2 of the 4 teams we played had running qbs and so pats played containnot to mention high being out-a great interior passrusher). not to mention no nink. nink is now back. this defense barring injuries will be better than last years. so too will the offense

That plus no ninkovich

Ok Sheard is NOT as good as Chandler. In my opinion.

2 years ago We lost Jonathan Casillas and replaced him with Jonathan Freeney. Freeney gets abused out there while Casillas is captain of the New York Giants D

Malcolm Brown has been getting pushed around for four weeks. I hope this stops.

ninkovich sheard long flowers hightower collins mingo. Who has more pass rushers? I don't think Brown has got pushed around at all and we've gone with bigger DL besides him. we've got Anthony Johnson on the practice squad.

I don't see this position as a deficit. as has been noted, we don't go all out pass rush on mobile quarterbacks for obvious reasons.

In general Sheard is a better fit in a Belichick defense than CJ because he can actually defend against the run.

But if you truly think we "lost" Casillas instead of what really happened which is moving on after maximizing his worth for half a year then any discussion is pointless anyway.

Also you should really pay more attention to Brown instead of just *****ing or repeating what others say. He definitely didn't have a bad year so far.

Should improve with Ninkovich back, it will allow them to move Long or Sheard inside on passing downs
Exactly. I think long gets pushed inside against the pass and Ninkovich stands up against the run.

As good as Chandler was, he didn't have that kind of versatility.
