2 years ago We lost Jonathan Casillas and replaced him with Jonathan Freeney. Freeney gets abused out there while Casillas is captain of the New York Giants D

I continue to be amazed at the amounts of hyperbole and lack of clarity in perspective. Casillas was a great special teamer and solid cover LB. That said he was a backup here - especially to guys like High and Collins who both cover AND play the run very well.

He was a respectable fill-in during injuries, but the drop off from those two was similar to Freeny now - who is a little better (and that's a relative little by the way) vs the run than Casillas, but worse coverage wise.

For a team like NY, where they have struggled finding a good combination of LBs in recent years, Casillas is still that same player - good against the run, better in coverage, but if NY had both High and Collins...Casillas would be back in a supporting role. Perspective of the differences in the two team's defenses strengths and needs.
