Let me put it another way. The teams that are expected to do well in the draft are the ones that draft first. The Patriots seldom do.

Oakland does great. So does Cincinnati, Cleveland...drafts are a crapshoot. That's why the Pats stockpile draft picks. Scattershot, see what hits, cast off those that miss. It's a pretty sound strategy.

Let's at the very least agree that the Pats are BELOW AVERAGE when it comes to the draft.

Let's not agree. Did you take any time, anytime at all, to go down the Patriots roster, player by player, and see which players were drafted by the Patriots and are still there?

Shooting from the hip are what some fans do and, I know that. It would be nice if you supplied some facts to back up your statement.

That's simply absurd. LOOK at other teams. Look at the Jets, who completely whiffed on the 2010 draft which was one of the deepest ever. Look at the Colts, who haven't drafted any impact players since...what, 2004? Look around the league and count the teams that consistently draft late yet have a stable of young impact players like Mayo, McCourty, Gronkowski, Vollmer, Hernandez....

Maybe this is what's confusing you: the Patriots draft far, far more players in the first 3 rounds than any other team. And since NOBODY hits on every pick, it's super-easy to think of Patriot draft duds. But given their annual low draft position, they pick up a ton of talent.

Actually Nikolai, they are pretty accurate!The draft picks have been terrible.Its not just the 2007 draft.
