All quiet on Hightower front or Dont'a-do-it FA tour

Not surprised in the least to see a new team in the mix today. Was just discussing this possibility with @patfanken early this morning. Those who assumed that it was "just" between TEN/NE weren't using common sense.

If this guy wanted to be here than he would have signed already. He's looking for some idiot to overpay. That could be the jests. He probably figures i have two rings already let me chase the money. I don't blame him but of all the teams the jests? Give me break. Lol

Where are the 5 quality NFL starters. Better than an average starter at their position.
I'm being serious. You may be able to name 5 but it would be close.

Well ya just changed the criteria. A quality starter to me is someone who's a legit NFL starter. Better than average is like top 16 (or 32 based on position in question).

Regardless, first off remove all (non star) youngin's, since that's the whole point of playing them. To find out if they're good enough and to develop them.

That kills a lot of the team because we're now really damn young. 3 of the LBs and 2 CBs on defense. Much of the oline and receivers on O. While I do think some of them would start on many other teams, they're certainly not above average yet.

3-4 DEs: 3 of them at least above average.
NT: Mclendon above average, Simon legit starter.
3-4 ILB: Harris is still above average as a 3-4 bruiser.
SS/FS: Legit starters in Pryor (still young but old enough to count) and Gilchrist.
Slot CB: Skrine is above average at slot corner.

QB: Nope.
TE: Lol.
WR: Decker and Quincy are both at least above average #2s. The youngin's are solid 3s and obviously still developing.
RBs: Tough to judge RBs. Are Forte n Powell legit workhorse 3 down RBs? Nope. But how many teams use that anymore. In the roles they play, yes, Powell is above average, and Forte is probably average.
Oline: Too young to judge yet in many cases. The guards are probably at least average though.

Now what did the Jets drop that hurt that breakdown? Revis? No. Mangold? A bit, but again, not worth the cost given his age and us rebuilding. Marshall? Yes that hurts losing a #1. But we wanted to extend him and he rightfully didn't want to be part of rebuilding. Can't blame him.

When do the Patriots lose patience, sign Brown, and step away. They stepped
away from Revis when they realized the Jets would pay anything to sign him.
The Jets ended up bidding against themselves.

I'm actually starting to get annoyed with Hightower dragging out this process and trying to manipulate New England into overpaying him... and I have to wonder if Belichick is also losing patience?

Hopefully soon. Pretty ****ing obvious we aren't his preferred choice. That or his agent

I hear you there, but I think that BB and Hightower have probably maintained good communication throughout the process. If BB felt he could not see when this would all be over, he probably would've stepped away by now. He must think that a decision will be hammered out pretty soon.

If we lose Hightower Brown is a great prize
As I said previously really like Brown

It would hurt to lose the guy but bill would find a way. We continue to play on. Hightower's attitude rubs me the wrong way ever since his pal was traded. Idk. Off course i would be grateful for his big plays in both superbowls. He would just be another guy that left a contender to chase the dollars. I bet mevis wished he never left. If he left for the tits i could understand. Back home.

This is just getting stupid. He has had 6 days. It's obvious that he did not get offered what he thought he would by teams and is trying to hold out for a bigger deal from some ****ty team like the Jets/Titans

Think Patriots match Jets?
I could forgive Tenn would really be irritaiting if he went to Jets not weather related not home and no where close competing for a superbowl I dont want to see him blitz Brady.

I can see bill giving him a deadline pretty soon. Most of the top guys have signed already.

He's waited over five years to hit free agency, he's earned the right to take as much time as he needs to make a decision that will effect the rest of his career. The Patriots play hardball and players don't just have to bend to their wishes.

When have you ever seen Bill Belichick lose his patience? He makes calculated decisions.

Yes but i am sure they have put a deal on the table for him. I am sure hightower's looking for a team to join the party and raise the stakes. That team llook's to be the jests. Lol

I have no problem with that but the options aren't much out there. He already saw his market pretty much. It seem's like he's looking for a prayer and that might have come in the form of the stinking jests!
