Patriots Rumor A.J. Brown trade rumors heat up - Should Patriots get him?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
I think it is possible that Pats fans are underrating Boutte.

He was having a stellar year before the injuries, and that TD catch vs Houston in the playoffs shows a player who can step up when it matters.

He was having a good year before injuries. Not stellar. He was great against the Raiders and pretty much disappeared the next three games other than one TD catch. Boutte is a good receiver. He has his moments, but isn't consistent enough and has issues getting open.

The Older S Diggs says Hi Rob add me to that list.

They signed Doubs. They drafted Williams last year. They were thrb#2 pass offense.

Roseman has a player who doesn’t want to be there. He traded up in round 1 for a WR and brought in 2 others.
They need to move him more than the patriots need to get him.

Again, we disagree, and we will see what happens.

Doubs doesnt play Diggs/ Brown WR role to begin with, so he is not here to take the place of Diggs. Doubs compares to Boutte and has similar numbers, but Boutte blows Doubs out of the water with the same 85 targets.

2025
Boutte 46 targets 551 yards 6 TDs
Doubs 85 targets 724 yds 6 TDs

Williams has proven nothing with his 48% catch rate.

Roseman is the Philly GM and dont work for Baloney Bob. There is plenty of time to deal Brown if the Pats try to lowball the Eagles. Gunner Ozelowski just blew out his ACL last week and is gone for 2026. The season is still young and other WRs will go lame prompting their franchises to suddenly be shopping for a WR.

No sh*t Sherlock.

Massive overpay when there's no other team trying to trade for him.

  • Wrong side of his prime
  • Declining play
  • Lower body injury issues
  • Massive cap hit
  • Diva mentality
  • Losing a first round pick

If this was Randy type talent, sure. But AJ is nowehere near that type of talent.

I don't agree with you, but all your points are valid enough, except the one I highlighted. The Eagles are picking up most of the tab here.

Not sure how it's really an overpay. I feel like people have massive blinders on just because they see the words "1st round pick" and completely discount the time element. Two months ago the media was saying Howie Roseman was "starting the bidding" at a 2026 1st, 2nd and a player. Now we are calling a 2028 1st by itself an overpay, even though it's significantly less, and is 2 years later. Would people have considered a 2026 3rd, or a 2027 2nd, an overpay? Because the approximate value is the same.

They subtracted one and added one, and expect a second year jump. They are not desperate.

Philly has more incentive to trade him now than to wait. Gunner Olsheiwski lol.
There is no certainty that injuries will happened, that the team it happens to can afford Brown that they would offer more than is on the table, or that they want him, not to mention that he will want to go there. NFL teams typically do not pass up a deal today for one that might possibly under certain circumstances maybe come up later.

Again, we disagree. And we will see.

Just because Howie Roseman was “starting the bidding” at such a huge return doesn’t mean that this isn’t an overpay either. It means he played this right.

I’m hoping the 2028 1st rounder is conditional based on stats and gets reduced to a 2nd otherwise. Or that we’re getting a 4th rounder back in return. Otherwise I do think it’s an overpay.

That said, it could be an overpay and still also be worth it if he has an elite WR1 season and we make it back to the Super Bowl.

Its worth it if the patriots win a superbowl while getting large contributions from AJ
