A Balanced Look at the Defense

Can anyone on this forum ever remember Andy admitting that he was wrong about anything?

So I am sure you would have no problem directing everyone to all of your posts where someone disagrees with you and you admit you were wrong.

An 18-0 team with a suspect defense lost the SB....see a pattern here yet, if not WAKE UP

Suspect defense in 2007?Are you kidding me?
The team with the greatest offense in NFL history lost a SB so therefore offense is meaningless in football. That is what your argument adds up to.

Actually the defense was horrendous today, but I don't what that has to do with a thread about its first 12 games.

It's because after a few games where the defense actually shows up you jump into your "top 10" BS rant, when many remember last year, and the year before that, and the year before that. This defense is never far from this type of performance and the non-deluded among us realize that (and can't take being called morons by the likes of you).

The Pats defense has been suspect since the 2006 playoffs and has gotten worse by the year, WAKE UP ALREADY

The defense was suspect that year?

And of course coming with 1 minute of a 19 and 0 season is perfect proof of what is the recipe for failure:rolleyes:

The patriots have no defense. That is a balanced look at it.

I found it to be a high point, didnt you?

Yes I did. However, this defense just gave up 28 points to a team that was struggling to score over 18 points a game. We won, but our defense looked as bad as it's been all year. Instead of getting better, we seem to be getting worse.

I've been hanging on to "well, they give up a ton of yards, but they're pretty good in the red zone and not giving up too many points". But today was awful. At this point I'd be happy with one playoff win.

They only allowed 7 in the second half. Which is 14 PPG, so they are trending in the right direction.

With Matthew Slater starting at FS, I am not surprised by this. While other teams sport Ed Reed and Troy Palomalou, the Pats threw Matt ******* Slater back there. Results are still the same though, another win.

They were clutch in the fourth qtr that's for sure......
Yes they looked terrible for most of the game, but they were clutch down the stretch.........

This post confuses me

In keeping with the intention of the thread, the defense has now played well enough to deserve to win 9 times and poorly enough to deserve to lose 4 times.

Actually my math was bad, they have allowed 19.5. Still, since the Bills game to allow 19.5pp for 10 games and not allow an opposing offense in any game score more than 25 tells us something. They've actually been quite consistent. They aren't stout, but are sometimes. They aren't swiss cheese, but are sometimes.

lmao

The Skins marched like 75 yards, and Moss basically handed Mayo the ball

It had absolutely nothing to do with playing clutch

Why would you need to make up something and attribute it to me in order to argue against what I said? Doesnt that prove your argument is lame?
Show me where I said this was a top 10 defense. Show where I said it was good, bad, mediocre or anything.
This is what is so F-ed up about this board.
I post, game by game whether the defense played well enough to deserve to win or lose. Dozens of posts in I don't recall anyone objecting to my conclusion of any single game, yet people are so in love with wallowing in negativity about a 10-3 team that people like you have to make up that I gave an opinion about how good the defense is, because the facts of the first 12 games conflict with the negativity you apparently feel entitled to.

This defense is never far from this type of performance and the non-deluded among us realize that (and can't take being called morons by the likes of you).
Then find someone who is saying what you disagree with and fight them instead of taking an objective analysis that doesn't support your enjoyment of negativity and pretend it says something that it doesn't. I realize that you have a bunch of buddies in the woe is me crowd, but you really do look foolish assaulting my post by making up things that aren't in it to disagree with. It shows you have no merit in your argument.
