For my own safety, I'd like anyone who owns a fully automatic AR-15 to be one someone's list. There is no reason to have one except to intimidate or kill. Its over kill for protection, its immoral as a hunting gun.

The NRA likes to use the "slippery slope" argument all the time when fighting even the most reasonable gun control laws. I would opine that we've gone down the "slippery slope" in the other direction over the last few decades. We live in a country where "weapons of mass murder" are as readily available to ANYONE who wants them for any purpose, either legally or illegally.

Yet the NRA and their ilk fight ANY attempt at regaining some sort of logic back into gun control. Laws that would allow law abiding sane people to own guns, while protecting the rest of us from people who not have the ability to kill, but to kill on a massive scale.

Since I don't want to get too political, I'm just going to comment once on this thread and move on. Two points:

1) I don't own a gun, have never owned a gun, and don't want a gun. Probably never will. I'm about as far from a gun enthusiast as you can get.

2) The 2nd Amendment doesn't exist to protect our right to hunt. It's to protect us against anyone who attempts to infringe upon our rights, including other people and even our own government.

At some point, if you believe that guns should be banned because they're overboard for hunting, you're essentially stating that you value safety over the Bill of Rights. Not judging--I see plenty of merits on both sides--but that is exactly why it's a more complicated issue than you're presenting it as.

I own a BUNCH of these guns and 1) I’ve never killed anyone, and 2) I haven’t made a single one full-auto. That’s true for every single gun-owner I know.

England firearms homicides per 100k population 0.07, US 2.97. I'd guess our inability to stroll into the local supermarket and buy a semi auto assault rifle with our tea helps keep firearm murders low but can't be certain

England's crime rate is higher than the U.S. Crime rate.

England reports its violent crimes in a way that overcounts them compared the the U.S., while tallying homocides in a way that undercounts the actual numbers, thus making honest comparison with the United States almost impossible in those two areas.
