Caro
Wow, doesn't it feel like Shula was WAY older than Carroll when he was still coaching, and definitely Marv Levy... But you're saying both those guys were younger than Carroll but looked 10 or 20 years older??
Carroll seems to take pretty good care of himself, unlike a lot of football coaches.

Someone help me... I don't remember reports of Pats practicing in the rain this camp?
BB used to make sure they did it at least 2x during TC - even if it took water hoses.
That will be interesting for ball security purposes... (meaning, Rham shouldn't play much)

Yeah, that's how I feel about this game. Sometimes I think the Pats will win and sometimes I think the Raiders will win, for the reasons you mentioned. I'm taking a Show Me approach to the Pats. I want the Pats to be at least a half-decent team, but I'm mostly refusing to buy into the "they're a better team" narrative until I see it in the games.
I am determined to enjoy this season for what it is: the first phase of a rebuild that begins with Drake and Vrabel as the foundation. Given the rebuild began with our team's being arguably the worst in the league, I'm going to be happy with solid progress, whatever the record may in the end be. I want to enjoy the games by looking for that progress. So far, I think it's going pretty darn well. I don't expect us to make the playoffs or to have double-digit wins,so I'd be pretty foolish to tie my happiness to those sorts of expectations.

I've been a fan since they were the Boston Patriots, so I've remained a fan through some very thin years. We all got spoiled during the "dynasty." I expected them to win every game, and when they didn't, I was pissed. I felt entitled to wins. The losses were more annoying than the wins were gratifying. When you're in a rebuild, you can even be happy with some lost games, so I guess if you get your head screwed on straight, you are released from being a slave to perfection or something.

There was one day I was down there and it drizzled a little. Nothing like this.

So, Koonce and Pratt aren't good players on the Raiders defense?
I couldn’t go down the entire roster and name every slightly above average player.

Nothing like ****ing rain to **** up the season opener

Dunno. I think our running game is our strength. And the only rain the Raiders play in is the strip clubs. This might be better for us.

Sneaky must win game this to have a real season, i think to be a fringe playoff contender we need to get out of the first 6 at 3-3.

That looks a whole lot easier if we just win this game.

My shrubs are going out if control. What Region are you in?
Northern New England, well north of Boston. It's so dry that leaves are changing early,The Japanese lilacs are losing their leaves. For the first time ever I've had to run a hose into my little frog pond for a few hours once a week or so. I reseeded a part of my pasture: now it's just dust. We have to water the garden every evening. Really dry. It rained a little last night, but not enough to get into the ground. Fortunately I have a drilled well. People with dug wells are running dry.

I am firmly pro-rain.

Sorry to rain on your parade.
Hopefully Stevenson worked on ball control,as well as Maye not giving up on a play and having to protect the ball from being stripped

We will learn a lot about the Oline today.

Is there an award for worst post of the week?
Sounds like a future poll question:

A framed Bill Belichick 2024 Draft Board?
Ben Dreith's Penalty Flag?
Zeke Mowatt's Towel?
An Aaron Hernandez Jersey?
The RLKAG Missing Suit Jacket?

There are probably a hundred more possible awards items we could pass around symbolically to highlight that month's worst post -- whatever it might be. The harder part is likely figuring out a governance system on who gets to make that determination (count me out BTW)
